Well, as far as an introduction guys i'm an ex Audi factory trained dealer rat working for an indie shop that specializes in european and some exotics as they come. i'm building an Ultima GTR for a customer which is how i found this site. now to why i'm posting over here in the Italian area. we have an 83 countach on the rack right now, complaints are E-brake inop, and charging warning light on. trouble is no wiring diagram exists as far as anyone knows. alternator tests OK, and basic bosch charging diagrams show the light in the dash with 12v from the battery one one side and the D+ terminal from the alternator on the other side. continuity tests show an open, testing from alternator side of harness to ground shows open, but from indicator light terminal shows short to ground. wire is green at alternator, bulkhead connector behind pass seat in engine compartment it changes to green with white tracer (all very heavy gauge wire) and at indicator light it is light blue and much lighter gauge wire. we bypassed the entire harness with a jumper from alternator D terminal to light blue at indicator light and it functions as it should, KOEO it illuminates, and KOER it is on for a moment and once the alternator starts charging it turns off. any pointers? i can't find anything in the fuse/relay panel that has anything to do with either ends of that harness. dash is nearly removed but i don't want to lance open the entire harness to find a bad relay or such. anyone have a lead on a wiring diagram or have had their head inside this part of the electrical system that could offer a bit of advice before i have to start opening looms?

next dilemma is the emergency brake. the front transmission mount has essentially collapsed and the engine is holding the actuator rod from moving through the one crossmemeber to allow the parking brake to function. is this a common thing? we were debating on removing and measuring the size of the brackets and getting a polyeurathane replacement bushings as they are simple in design.

thanks everyone
-Zac

There are a few Countach owners on this forum.
I am sure they will make themselves known soon enough.
Then there is always Mike Pullen at Carrera Sport in Haywards Heath.
Most of the Lamborghini fraternity have visited him at some time.
Good luck with the car. Some pics would be nice.

I'll check with a couple of possible sources of any actual wiring diagrams for a 5000S but please note: the wiring loom may run the same cable route with different coloured wires from point to point - it's one of those Italian elastic trickery things as far as I know!!

Also, as mentioned, if you are near Haywards Heath give Mike Pullen a call @ Carrera Sport

Whatever you do with the car, good luck!!

thanks for the reply, here are the pics. it's a non bumper euro gray market car essentially. side draft webbers, so no fuel infection and no bumpers but the data plate says it meets "federal safety and bumper standards" lies i tell you.

they're both pearl white, the Audi S4 has KO4 turbos and this is after i fitted it with a freshened flywheel and Southbend Clutch disc and Sach's race pressure plate as it digested an RS4 in a quickness.

here it is out under the evil day star. that's a 4cyl esprit parked next to it.

Zac

I would also suggest putting this post on Lambopower and Lamborghini-talk which have far more Lamborghini specific topics.

Raymond Stofer is a guru on the Countach and visits Lamborghini-Talk often - otherwise contact him through http://www.countach.ch/history.html.

Good luck

Craig

well... made some progress. dash is stripped bare, glovebox out, seats out, side panels out, interior is nearly naked. traced wire with a tiny bit of peeking at some loom sheath joints with some small amounts of electrical tape cut followed it till it poked up into the front firewall and it goes behind the evaporator on the passenger side. and of course none of that stuff moves so now i'm under the bonet poking around for a green wire with a brown tracer that makes the dash light for the charging system work... gotta love italian cars i suppose eh? i'll get some upskirt shots of the car all apart soon.

I just noticed where the OP is....... so he ISN'T near Haywards Heath - which answers my first question, which was why hasn't the owner gone to someone like Mike Pullen....

Just makes you feel lucky to live in good ol Blighty, near good Lamborghini and Ferrari specialists .... :-)
