Just wondering if the interest rate cut today will help people out looking for finance deals on high end cars like ours?

It may gee people up a bit in terms of seeking finance, hopefully.
I honestly cant see 1.5% being passed onto the end customer.

It will probably scare the living daylights out of people and cause prices to drop further! People will think if the economic climate is so bad that 1.5% has to be cut there must be serious problems. Would be very surprised if it had a big impact on luxury cars. Plus as the person before me said, it wont all be passed on anyway!

I guess if its passed on then maybe it will cause a short term increase in sales, but that will only last until people, as the last poster said, remember WHY they've cut so drastically. Fundamentally the numbers coming out are dreadful, and there's no reason to expect a recovery anytime soon, so prices of houses/cars etc should continue to drop.

Bottom line is its the same supply and demand story...

You aint seen nothing yet... my colleague correctly called the bank crisis a while ago and has been stockpiling huge bags of rice in his basement as he thinks there'll be a run on food in the UK and we're heading for riots (he's a hedge fund manager at a major bank, so not completely mad) -- bottom line, we're in for much worse... so hang on a few more weeks before handing over 100k+ for a car -- you'll get it for much less in just a few months

I'm off to draw out some cash on my credit card... they'll go bust too = free money!

(caveat: i bought a lambo recently, so obviously have no idea what Im talking about)

Yes, mad is the wrong word. How about reckless, greedy, self centred, ignorant, dislocated from sustainable finance.

I'm confused, what is a "hedge fund manager at a major bank". There are hedge funds, there are banks, the two are mutually exclusive. For example I work in one, and trade with the other.

Anyway, my point is that I'm the first to agree things are bad, very bad (which is why this rate cut should be taken as that, NOT as a sign to start spending) but this "there are going to be riots" stuff is scaremongering crap.
