An idea lunchtime has revealed this 3200 is only a few miles away.
Is this going to be a money pit? Are there any standard things, I should ask the dealer?
Thanks in advance.
How much trouble can a car that cost £65k new be when it's 9 years old and down to £10k...Hmmmmmmmm.Is this going to be a money pit? Are there any standard things, I should ask the dealer?
Thanks in advance.
No, it'll not be an issue at all!
I am joking, this is the very definition of the term Money pit or balck hole.

If you opt to buy this id be putting a small sum say 5k into the Maserati 3200 repair fund, if it doesnt cost you a dime you'l have a nice savings however the mor likely out come is you'l need every penny.
I looked at the 3200 allot and although great and being the car that put Maserati back on track the build quality still had a little way to go, not too far but still.

For what it's worth, a handfull of thoughts :
- service history, service history, service history. If it's not got a full stamped up book (independants are OK) walk away
- bear in mind it will be due a major service with belt change at 65K miles (which is why you see a lot of 3200's for sale with this sort of milage :-)
- if it passes the first point above, and the second one doesn't put you off, go and drive it. If it scares you silly and puts a smile on your face the engine and all associated turbo gubbins should be OK...
- but don't leave it at that - get an independant inspection from a specialist.
If you get through all that (and can afford the running costs as mentioned by a previous post) it will be a hell of a lot of car for less than £10K

As a very close knit family we have had two in the family. one 3200 and one F1 Spider Cab with the 4.2V8. Amazing car, great drive. However running costs if you go main dealer are comparable to a Ferrari and parts are also comparable. At £10k arguably the best car that money can buy, but get it checked and double checked.
For starters I see it still has Maserati back exhaust boxes, they rust away within no time at all. I think mine were £700 to replace with aftermarket stainless steel ones.
As for the rest, they can get very expensive to run when parts start failing in rapid succession, as I know well! You will need deep pockets to run it, unless you want to start sweating everytime something sounds odd or a warning light comes on!
