I'm looking at buying a 360 Modena in the next few weeks...a few questions for anyone that's got one in London:

- Can you park it on the street you live on without worrying about some chav keying it/trying to pinch it? I live in Kensington, and there's a few nice motors around (brand new 997 Turbo/SL 55 AMG/TVR all out front), but I've a feeling the 360 would attract the most attention.

- Any problems leaving it out in the British weather? Or does it really need to be garaged?

- Will I get over the local speed bumps without ripping the underneath of the car off?

- How's the F1 box on a 2000 car around town?

Thanks!

Buy a dark colour.

It'll be fine.

Better still, get a 550 Maranello. Riff raff don't get it, and it's an IMMENSE motor.

Great colour, but rare.

A great mate has a 360 in TDF. Subtle but lovely.

Wouldnt leave a ferrari in the street anywhere, let alone london. Attract lots of attention and jealousy. Equally wouldnt want to leave one out in all weather scenarios. Personal view though, i'm sure you could, its just that I wouldnt.

No offence mate, but I think that's balls. Nice bits of London are awash with Ferrari's and all the other brands of supercars out there, and Kensington I am sure has no shortage. I don't think OP will have an issue.

Just look at tigerkoi's thread, most of that stuff was parked on the street, having worked in Mayfair for a little while, and seeing that they were common place in the roads around G Sq, I would not hesitate if I was in OP's position.

I park my red 360 in Kensington. No problems as yet! Speed bumps are fine as long as you slow down.

No problems leaving it out in the rain so far. Though when I bought it I made sure there were no leaks as some cars do have 'em.

Mine's for sale (tubi, F1, challenge rear grill) if you're interested.

Just personal opinion, as I said, I wouldnt leave a ferrari in the street anywhere. But then I am quite protective about my f-cars. I have seen a lot of f cars that have lived in london and GENERALLY they end up in very poor condition.

Given the large number of these cars parked on the street in West London. I am sure the owners are not as precious to their cars as you are. You can't be - the can afford to own it/drive it/enjoy it. If anything happens then you take it on the chin. It's not an investment and doesn't have to be 100% clean at all time etc.

+1

Got to say I'd agree - Ferraris are so common in London that not many people would give them a second glance(I would thought!).

I don't own a Ferrari but this reminds me of an article Top Gear Magazine did about Clarkson buying his new 355 in 1997. Words to the effect of.

Clarkson said:
Would you lower a diamond necklace into a waste disposal unit? No? Exactly, that's why I won't take my Ferrari into Central London
I guess that leaving it in Kensington isn't a problem, it's just the journey to wherever you're going that exposes you to the nutter, licence-less drivers in The Smoke....

a KTM (or similar bike) is by far the quickest way to get around London.

a keyed 360 spider is still a 360 spider..... just drive it - keep it for a few years, live with the urban damage and then swap it for something new...

No I could not live with that type of damage on any of my cars especially my Ferrari. The spider when sold was as near perfect as you can get very sad.
My CS is not left unattended/out of sight except when it is in the garage or dealers workshop.

I doubt people own these cars for the driving pleasure alone!! They have them because they look amazing too!!

Urban damage hey?! How about I put a brick through your front window and you live with that as urban damage, cost about the same to repair (probably less). You wouldn't be so blazee then would you?! ranting

That aside you prob wouldn't live in a place where your house was constantly vandalised would you? Some might. In the same way some won't risk subjecting their P&J to getting trashed!

Rant over.

Or are you trolling? In which case, I so took the bait, good job!! biglaugh
