Sales tactic. Moves it around in price lists and keeps it in the minds eye.

Only prices worth anything are sold prices. If I put an ad in the paper for a MK1 Fiesta for £10k does that suddenly mean they're collectable? Obviously not....

...and that particular Diablo has what are kindest termed 'appearance' issues to say the least.

There are far better looking and probably much better kept Diablos around for a little less money, about the same and a little more - all without the gacky non-standard and zero taste exterior graphics and absurd interior butchery...

eta - just spotted the chronic engine bay 'modifications' - that's just pathetic. Surely everyone knows the car is Italian before any knobhead Italian 'flagging' efforts like these??? If I were ever thinking of buying this car, I'd be insisting on slicing at least £15k off this asking price to sort all the nonsense that's been done to the poor thing with bits of sticky stuff and ...

I was thinking of offering £30k in the spring?! hehe

Guessing it's SOR as well as the plates don't come with it or do dealers like to keep cherished plates?! If that's the case maybe the owner had a change of heart and upped the price?!

I don't usually say this sort of thing, but I'd go for ±5k more than the amount being asked for this poor car and get a better car in the long run... and one that's not been as fekked about with as badly/wrongly as this car.

There are a few - if the Evil Doctor Fish isn't on holiday he'll be able to tell you all about his Diablo - plus I think the OP has a few views on his Diablo VT that might be of interest!!!

Regularly read on the forum and have done for some time, am well aware of Mr Fishes antics/credentials!! hehe

Read a lot of the Lambo stuff but can only dream of a Diablo as they are a little out of budget at the moment. weeping

I will be more than happy with the 355 I hope to purchase in the spring!! driving

PompeyBlue has a stunning 1993 example.
I am sure that he would answer any questions, if you ask him.

As a fan of modified Diablos, I thought you'd like to see a few pics I took in Tokyo earlier this year wink

Yeh, his car is mint.
Saw it a few months back.
It has an SE30 front and back spoiler and a gorgeous set of 18 inch rims.

Hi there,

This dealer selling this car is about 5 miles from my house and has had the car for sale for quite a while. I photographed the car last year and at that time it was up for sale for £64,995.00.

Here are my pics again: -

The same dealer also has a Gumpert for sale: -

That Diablo chavtastic pile of a sad compromise should never have had a price tag more than £40k... If it was remade to be a more precise version of a Diablo, then it just might be worth £55k in the current market... perhaps.

And the Gumpert Apollo - are there any more than a few ever likely to be built? If there are, will they be yet another typical lo-production special that's all-talk and fekk all longer than a strangled warranty's worth of any quality?

It should be noted that the Crown Prince of Strangeways is claiming to be an appointed Gumpert agent these days, not that he's got one for sale, not that he'd be in a position to take an order either I should think. If there was ever a your doom is soon! signal for a small-scale manufacturer, then letting Le Fakir 'suggest' you allow him to be an agent for you would be one.

Just a question - would getting rid of the tat be prohibitively expensive?

Surely they are just vinyl stickers? Could you not get a new engine cover from Parellel Designs or something?

I admit you would have to live with the interior leather though.

When I saw it there they had just left the doors open and there were kids climbing all over it.

If the green was more in keeping with the true green of the Italian flag then the interior would be improved..Idea was ok just went wrong with the pantone colour chart wrong me thinks... If you remove stickers and change front apron etc, it would not be a bad car at 40k!! Food for thought....over to you XXVIII
