There is nothing worse than some bloke driving about in a brilliant car and ignoring or being rude to someone who shows an interest in it.

Like yesterday I was about to mention to a Granturismo S owner that his car looked stunning and he glared at me and gestured for me to sod off.

Anyone had similar experience? Or anyone been that grumpy sod?

Had no negative experiences with owners of nice cars, but only one smile back from someone picking up his new LP560. But then again I admire from a distance usually to make sure I don't annoy them. hehe

Some people do buy cars for the love of them, not to be hassled by everyone in the street! wink

hehe

Not that I would know... My broke ass can't even get me to the half-way house... grumble...groan...

Because for every one person that is genuinely interested there is a complete tt that either is rude or drives like a retard and put mine and others lives at risk. And to many owners, they are just cars to get from A-B and don't need the hassle getting there.

indeed, i dont think it's really a case of being nasty in general.

you have to take into account peoples moods etc.

if someone is genuienly interested in my car i'm happy to chat, assuming i have time (happens more with the Atom than it does with the 360 tbh)

however if i'm in a hurry or in a bad mood, i'll tend to keep myself to myself without being dimissive if possible.

however as has been said, there are always those out there that want to try and put you down or insult you....and you never know what type you're going to meet until they open their mouths.

Absolutely agree with that comment by Harsh. If I'm in a good mood then I'll talk all day long bout the cars. But if I'm in a bad mood then I find myself glaring at people on the motorway taking pics with mobiles. I must be getting old and grumpy.

I think you have to understand that just one person coming up to your car could be the wrong person. I'm very much a case of window up if someone approaches, if its down, its only an inch or two. The reason beacuse as i mentioned in another thread, I was punched once sitting in my car at a set of lights, bust all my front teeth quite bad. Anyway, its just a factor as to why some people may react the way they do, not always thought of.

I wouldnt just wave someone off but i would let them know to approach with care!

We bought our cars for our entertainment, not yours wink

As others have said it's going to depend on mood and how it's done. I chat over a petrol pump quite often, as I'm there anyway. At the other end of the spectrum you can imagine how much response I give when I'm sat at the lights and from the pavement you hear:- 'Oi mate! Rev it! Rev it!'

"Guys who hate attention"

Hmmm. Imagine the attention my wife gets driving an orange SL around. It's quite funny, especially the time some slaphead in a 599 tried to "impress" her and nearly lost it outside Zug police station... But generally the attention is quite good natured
