I am about to purchase a 2006 Gallardo Spyder and was wondering about fitting after market exhaust. Apologies if this subject has been covered before but if anyone can advise the route to go it would be much appreciated. Any info on costs etc also appreciated.

Have you heard the standard one once it opens up?

You have the best of both worlds, reasonably rumbly at low revs / throttle opening so you don't look a cok arount town, but it opens to a marvelous bellow whne you boot it.

I honestly can't think you'd want to make it any louder IMHO.

I agree with Bertie. Many of the non factory exhaust systems have thrown up the engine management light regularly too.

Many thanks for the helpful comments. I will do some decent driving with the current exhaust before making a decision. BTW has anyone fitted a Quicksilver Titanium to a Gallardo? They reckon it saves 20-30kg which seems worthwhile but do not know if the "engine light" problem occurs.

Many thanks for the advice. I had a tubi on the 360 and it was great. No "buzzing" and a really great sound. Looks like I will need to try the standard fit for a bit and see if I need after market one at all.

I owned an 08 spyder for 6 weeks and the stock system is very loud over 3k revs - must be 95dB + and sounds different in each gear.. I doubt you will want aftermarket once you've had some time in it. I traded into a DBS and find even that very quiet in comparison!

Really like the stock exhaust personally, did try it with the valves permanently open but it pinged off engine management warning lights on virtually every journey.

Ted, have you not had any probs with this with after market set up?

edited to add, stock is way over 95db at full chat!

Engine management light is always on , but engine runs fine, there is a way to fool the lambda sensers which I may get round to doing but it doesn`t bother me
