Bugatti EB110 info required
Discussion
Hi Guys, & Girls.
Looking to find some serious info on Bugatti EB110 Full Spec including Body Dimensions.
The Idea is to build a replica as near as possible from the dust on the floor UP.
The Chassis will not be Carbon Fibre or Aluminium, but could well be Stainless Steel.
The Engine will probable be V8 rather than a 12, as I have one in stock a M60 with M5 six speed manual box.
I have a full 540 Donor set of part from what was going to be a Python, but that project has been dormant for a couple of years now. The engineering of the 5 series is sound & with the body shape being more straight forward than the Cobra, the EB110 in twin skin Aluminium with Poly-Euathene form infill should work well.
Full Specification of body dimensions is what I looking for or a car that I can scan, Manually thou.
What I have got is a Dozen photos, a Dealership Spec sheet (coming) , Supercars net Forums registration, mail waiting for Mr R Owen ( is he a bit of a boff relative to fast cars)
Any info would be good, I don’t do NO.
Tom

I`ll give you a NO. No, please don`t build a replica - save up for the real thing.Something over a year ago there was a very long thread on this forum not started but but with a lot of info on from a chap who claimed to be most of the way through writing a book on the subject.
I tried to email him a couple of times through his profile since then never recieved a response.
Possible starting point?

Thanks for your comments gents, Stargate doesn’t touch the spot (a ring-shaped alien device that creates a wormhole)
A replica will cost around 30K, what will that buy me set of wheel nuts from the real thing.

I have read though quite a bit on the subject, There are a couple in dealerships, problem is getting an invite. I can't offer much advice, but please keep this thread updated with your progress as it certainly sounds interesting!
I have a thread running in the Kit Car forums about F40 and EB110 replicas...
The only thing I will say is that F40 workshop manuals seem to turn up on eBay regularly, perhaps a Bugatti one might be available as well?

Any positive advice is very welcome. How would my BMW lump with the 4WD transfer box work the wrong way round, is it a go-go or a no-no.The only thing I will say is that F40 workshop manuals seem to turn up on eBay regularly, perhaps a Bugatti one might be available as well?
Will check out you kitcar thread.

Have a look in the mid engine sub forum.
If you start a similar thread in there, I am sure that you will get a wealth of positive contribution!
There are plenty of guys who have built mid engined cars and replicas, 4wd cars etc and they will be able to help you on the mechanical side, if you can get the dimensional information from here or other sources.
I guess that you will be able to 'flip' a transfer box to run it 'backwards' but it may be worth investigating if there is an easier way, such as finding a badly written off R8 or alike and negotiating the removal of the mechanical parts. Not cheap, I am sure, but it would make for a lovely conversion...
Which BMW engine is it? BMW V12 from the 7/8 series? If you look for andyGTT and his build thread (a few of them on here, have a search in the readers cars forum for the best one):
http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...
You will find that he is turbocharging the BMW V12 for some serious power, and I guess the same engine would be ideal for an EB110 relica? He could also offer some good advice about suspension design, bodywork etc. He is on Locostbuilders also.
Good luck!
Might be worth contacting the Bugatti Trust - http://www.bugatti-trust.co.uk/
Also that other thread everyone keeps mentioning:

All my donor parts are 5 series, the engine is M60 4ltr 286bhp at standard, coupled with a M5 six speed manual box, should I decide to go V12 5ltr, it will still fit. The V12 is 60deg as to 90deg on the M60, still to check-out tranfer box setup.

Thanks for your contribution. Must take a trip up to Cheltenham pay the trust a visit. See youv'e got an EB110 in your fantasy garage, pity your so far away, we could have built 2.
Added A note to the thread you mentioned, last entry was Feb 08, but it may highlight something. Any idea of what copy write issues may raise their heads??.
