Just bought a Gallardo without lifting gear and a bit worried about scraping the underside at the front as it has no protection. Have driven Nobles etc where the splitter stopped any damage to the bodywork. Just wondered if anyone had used anything to protect the paintwork? Any advice much appreciated.

fwiw when i was debating whether or not to specify the lifting gear i had a nosey under a good few gallardos : every single one had some scratches, even motorshow cars
i have the lifting gear and still have 3x 1cm light scratches
there are more important things to loose sleep over

When i got mine, the dealer told me that there's a metal plate (you can feel it if you put your hand under the front bumper) which helps take away the brunt of a scrape. Unfortunately I think that’s all there is.

Premier Motor Sport in California make nylon skid plates for Lambos and Ferraris. I've got a pair on my LP640 and they work a treat. If you visit Lambo Power or another specialist Lambo forum you'll find them by searching. Only problem is they don't take credit cards but Dave there is very helpful.

Mind you, I didn't have plates on my Gallardo and I managed by tackling driveways at an angle and avoiding anything too steep.

Many thanks for advice. I will try them. As a matter of interest if they dont take cards, how did you pay in US?

iirc they take PayPal

but personally I think it's a waste of time on the Gallardo

I don't have any added protection, all the speed bumps I've been over have been taken care of by the metal protection provided under the front. It only scrapes very occasionally. Just watch out for driveways at acute angles to the road, if you remember what your are driving and take the appropriate care you shouldn't have a problem.
