gallardo engines

Hi all, just wanting to know if anybody has heard of any engine issues with the gallardos. Heard a rumor that some of the early cars had new engines put in under warrenty by lamborghini. Does anyone know if there is any truth in this?

I heard that they run their cranks.
Something to do the vibration caused by being V10.
Just something I heard.

05MY had redesigned piston rings due to excessive oil use of earlier models. A number of engines died this way, apparently.

afaik early clutches yes, engines no

One of the members here got a new engine under warranty on his early car and I think a few other cars had the same problem

but these all came up years ago and I dont remember hearing of any problems since then

That might have been me. My Dec 03 build Gallardo had its engine replaced at about 28,000km after using more and more oil. In the end, it started running on about half its cylinders and they pulled it down and decided on the new engine.
