I have been enjoying my gallardo in most weather conditions since i got it a few months ago. Not huge mileage, About 1000 miles in total(mainly weekends). Recently though i've been on a tidying mission. First was the house/attic, Then i minted up the garage and hung some pictures in there. Then a few evenings ago i started on the car, I've got a radio and lpg space heater and have been beavering away detailing my pride and joy like an o.c.d crazy person,Inside, outside, engine bay, underneath. It now looks absolutely brand new which brings me to the dilema. The weather is crap,The roads are covered in crud so how am i going to be able to enjoy my car now? I've spent 3 long evenings on her and she's under cover asleep hooked up to the optimate. All my hard work could be ruined in 5 minutes of driving on these crappy roads.
Am i just being a numpty? should i just get on and drive it, It's only a car after all!! or should i now just wait till spring??

that's a difficult situation to be in...

I'd suggest the following:

wait for a (slightly) 'cleaner' day/weekend than the last few days

belt your Gallardo's little ass all over the place until she squeals with joy...

spend another 3 (or more!) days cleaning her...

repeat as required...

Welcome to the dark side!!

No your not - My Muci's put to bed (after some Zymol Royale creaming up!) and I quite happy with that. You've only got to squirt the throttle too hard and you're elegantly pirouetting out of control and wrapping the old gal round the local Oak tree.......... GAME OVER!!!

No thanks - rather keep her in bed until the spring Ta!nono

You bought the car to drive it so do just that and enjoy it. I drove my Cobra last winter and have always enjoyed driving the cars in winter, the bright mornings and stars out at night/roof down and all that, just be careful.

Thanks for cleaning it, much appreciated.

1. Give your spotless car to me for a weekend
2. I'll give you a spotless Impreza for that weekend (give me it back as dirty as you like)
3. I bring your car back to you as spotless as on receiving it

How does that sound?

Maybe its just me....

I dug the 355 out and took it for a 200 mile romp, just because. By the time I got back, it was so filthy you couldn't read either number plate.

I quite enjoyed driving it for a few days and seeing what is usually nice and shiny absoutely covered in crud and evidently well used.

I was actually quite proud of myself biggrin

ETA: It is now in the garage, nice and shiny again...

I'd definitely take it out.

You've worked hard on it and you deserve to reap the benefits!

All sports cars depreciate more than 2000 pounds a month at this point in time. No mothballing can make up for that kind of depereciation, so my advice is to drive these cars 24/7 at least that is the best use of your money and you have fun in the process.

Watching your car gain dust in the garage is rather pointless in these circumstances and the car only gets better being used.

Hi Matt Yeah i've had bits of trim off and cleaned inside/underneath engine bay. Anything that needed polishing has been polished, Even bits that don't get seen!!Anal i know, I'll definately be going for a raz at the weekend though so hopefully it's dry!

I'm not in her good books at the moment so I dare not let her near it, I got the steam cleaner out, set it all up and it wouldn't work, so new valve for it (plastic), £147 robbing gits !!
