I think this is prob the most cynical/desperate piece of marketing by Ferrari in years. The whole "16M" rubbish was obviously dreamt up at the last moment to try to associate it with the F1 championship, and the idea of limited to 499 cars is an amusing one given how they're having trouble shifting Scuds at the moment.
I'm a huge Ferrari fan and have been lucky enough to own many over the years, but IMHO they get less interesting/involving to drive as time goes on, and yet the prices go towards the stratosphere. This one will prob be 220k loaded, which means for the same money you could have a nearly new 430 Spider and Berlinetta, or 997 GT3RS, or pretty much anything of your choice. As a previous poster said, its not that far from a Carrera GT, which if nothing else shows the madness of this price....is it any wonder CGT prices appear to have stabilised/firmed.
Rant over....i grew up dreaming of Ferrari's, but am just disappointed at how its become a huge PR company now.

It is expensive. but then it is a ferrari...
Its not just that its expensive, its that its bend-you-over expensive as part of Ferrari's recent (430 onwards) mantra of "people will still buy them if we just add 10/20 grand to the price that it should be". Its twice the price of a few month old 430 Spider....which in my eyes doesn't stack up.DeltaHedge said:

Although I largely agree with you... You're maybe overlooking the fact that sterlings depreciation is causing them (and others) a LOT of headaches with their list prices.I'm a huge Ferrari fan and have been lucky enough to own many over the years, but IMHO they get less interesting/involving to drive as time goes on, and yet the prices go towards the stratosphere. Also delta - as far as I know - the Scud spider carries, as standard, ALL the Carbon gubbins which were (horrifically, and I mean HORRIFICALLY overpriced) options on the tin top. No doubt they've got 600 odd sets of these unsold carbon bits in stock which they load into the spider boosting the price to insane levels.
TBH, I wouldn't expect someone who owns the worlds best sports car (Carrera GT) to entertain the idea of buying a Scud Spider at any price anyway.
