To those that hate the Lambo/Audi association...
Discussion
Volkwagen AG's subsidiary Audi have owned Automobili Lamborghini SpA since the 1990's chum...
...not so much joined at the hip as effectively utterly co-dependent and wedded into near-utter bliss!
You've not being paying much attention to much for a while now have you????
edited to add: There was never much to hate about the whole deal - without Audi its almost a certainty that Lamborghini wouldn't have continued to exist for much longer than 2000, or at best they would have become just a hollow echo of the past selling only bits of stuff for the older cars from a steadily crumbling building...
Reality has meant that the marque and the values of the Lamborghini marque have more than survived... the last 6 or more years have been increasingly profitable - even last year! - and that's a phenomenon that was utterly absent for every year that the company existed before being bought by Volkswagen AG.
I love older Lamborghinis, as you can see I own one. Over the last 10 years, I have had the pleasure of being able to drive many of the older Lamborghinis as well as a few of the new cars.
ALL of them have one common factor that goes far deeper than the badge on the front, is more crucial than the 'shape' of the engine, even more important than the place where any of the cars were built...
Lamborghini cars have an intensity about them that is largely absent elsewhere by comparison - if some bits are shared with Audis these days then so what?

I am fully aware of the history thank you very much, I just liked the picture. I know that some Lambo owners are in denial and hate the association, as illustrated in a conversation I had with a Gallardo owner on Friday who looked like someone had stuck a lump of poo under his nose when I mentioned it.....not so much joined at the hip as effectively utterly co-dependent and wedded into near-utter bliss!

I agree you, without Audi, Lambo would be a dead duck by now, its just makes me laugh to see some owners wince when you mention Audi. ...not so much joined at the hip as effectively utterly co-dependent and wedded into near-utter bliss!

I like the current Lambo's, not enough to buy one, but would kill for a Muira, but then who wouldn’t.
These types of collaborations are a part of life nowadays, and if they keep the likes of Lambo in production then more power to them in my opinion..
agreed with that
A quick look through the average car built in Italy during the 1960s and 70s will show that a sizeable pile of Fiat bits n' bobs could be made from any car...
as you say, survival and improvement of the marque are what matter, so what if bits come from 'elsewhere' even if the elsewhere is actually the same anyway...
As ever, the un-good physician of underwater life has a perfectly good photo-answer!!!
re: Miura - check the LCUK website a club Member has a newly remade car that will make you dribble, I have lots more pix of it, it's advertised here on PH as well...

Is that the orange one up for £300,000?? can I ask, is that a good price?Edited by XXVIII on Monday 26th January 13:48
I also saw this SV at the weekend for $850,000 which sounds a bit OTT to me.

Audi's association, and the way Winkelmann et al have managed to execute it whilst maintaining that thing that makes a Lamborghini special, is why I bought my cars. Otherwise my hairdresser would be much richer and I'd have gone to the purveyor of red cars up the road...perish the thought

I guess it would depend on HOW you mentioned it. Trying to "get one over"and make an issue of it would certainly get anyone's back up, a friendly bit of banter and discussion would not!garyhun said:

I've checked the link above for that SV and though the asking price does seem a little optimistic viewed from here, the vendor is in California and the car is very, very pretty indeed... both essential elements in achieving the higher value of Lamborghinis!
One poster mentions the bulls horn on the Miura logo... to quote any number of car sales persons, 'they are all like that sir..."
Tadek - surely you meant to say 'Lamborgaudi' ?????
