Sales figures out for 2008, up 17% on previous year at 8600 cars. Up in all markets including the US.

Thats bad news, to me. I love Maserati's, one element of which is that they're not very common. I dont know the stats but I would guess that they're less 'common' than other marques like Ferrari, certinaly less than Porsche. I hope they dont over-commercialise the brand.

Sorry to disappoint you, Pork - in the history of car buying that there is, it seems to me that every left-field car that I have bought eventually turns out to be the populist choice. That's why I'm keeping hold of my 4200, just in case we're both wrong (that and I can't think of anything I'd rather have). Shame I didn't notice this 'talent' when I was a lad. Could have been driving a GTS by now!

Sorry to be a pedant, but I didn't get to where I am today by not being one! You love Maserati's what?

That'll be all the poverty-stricken bankers and hedge-fund managers trading-down from Ferraris!

Press release in Nov 08 "Maserati will be at the Bologna Motor Show having delivered in the first eleven months of 2008 approximately 7,700 cars to customers, an increase of 22% and a figure which confirms a major consolidation despite the general negative economic landscape."

Press release in Jan 09 for 08 results "Deliveries to the final customers have totaled almost 8,600 units, which is the all-time best result, with an increase of almost 17% over 2007"

So in Dec they sold 900 cars so not too bad.

Very good. A lot to do with the beautiful GranTurismo probably. And people buying that instead of their F430s/Gallardos during the credit crunch.
