That has been for sale for months.

Why would you buy a cat d unless it was almost given away ?

As for resale, I think that might become a "keeper" like it or not !!

Horses for courses - but I would stay away from all forms of damaged/repaired sports cars. For similar money, you can get 550's that have been loved and cherished - so why go for one that hasn't been?

Just my two penneth....

The rough rule of thumb for cat D in a good market was about 20% off market value.

Now considering we are in a buyers market, that 20% could be anywhere from 25-30% off markey value.

Now, say market value for that car with no damage history is £40k, then you are looking at a Cat D price of around £28-30k.

Then you have to factor in that it is a Ferrari and that most owners or potential owners are a fussy lot, and you have to put that car at around low to mid-20s I'd say.

One of the guys on here recently purchased a very nice, clean 550 at auction for £25k with no nasty history.

having said all that, at the right price it's a nice looking car yes

Thanks Burriana for taking the time to reply. That info is a great help.
It is a good looking car and I may take a drive over to check her over / test drive etc..

But at the right price - Question is will they drop to low 20's ?

With it being a reputable dealer, I doubt it.

It all depends what the actual damage was and whether they have had a full alignment report done or documentation from whoever did the repairs.

If it was Chris Evans' car i would have thought it would have been a main dealer job. I would however not pay any premium for the fact that he owned it, who cares really (unless he has photographic proof that he shagged Billy Piper in it then that might be worth it a bit in the history file biggrin )

I think the lowest that Foskers would go is £30k, which is not really that cheap for a tainted car.

andyc.

I have been following prices for a year on these.Theres a few cars out there for £30k that are not Cat D.I would suspect many of the £35k cars at dealers would go for nearer the £30k if you try.
2 recent auction cars went in the £20k's somewhere.

Cat D- You will have trouble shifting it when you go to sell.Value in my eyes is mid to low 20s unless the market picks up soon.

Personally I think the 550 and especially the 575 are worth what most sellers are asking,Just people are not prepared to part with their money. We will see what happens in April when the sun comes out.

If Billie Piper herself, well-oiled and wearing nothing but a pair of Christian Louboutins, came with the car it might be worth a premium, but otherwise, no. hehe

Verdi have a silver/black 2000 reg car that they have just dropped to £38k I suspect that in this market £35k should probably buy the car - the Cat D car is seriously overpriced

My suspicions are that a good rin round the decent cars in the classifieds should get you a mint car for £30k as they don't appear to be selling in this market and there is bound to be a bank motivated seller out there

Thanks Kickstart for your advise.
I wonder how many owners are going to the wall at the moment.
Perhaps is a case of waiting for the Cash buyer ?
