My 355 (with Tubi) makes a wonderful, deep, rumbling sound at low revs, which is great and I'm very happy with it.

When I floor it, however, I really want that high-pitched Ferrari wail to kick in, and it just doesn't...it's just a louder version of the low rev noise.

Would getting a decat get the wail I'm looking for?

I think the ideal solution would be to get a Capristo, but that's going to be big £££ I'm assuming? Is there a cheaper way using the existing Tubi?

Get your bypass valve checked, mine wasnt working when i got the car, and it just didnt scream at all.
But to make it really really scream, your going to have to ditch the Tubi for a Capristo, I've had both, and their really is no comparison between the two.

yes Tubi for 348, Capristo for 355 ... can you wire the bypass valves open on the 55 like you can on the 60?

De-cat will help and makes the engine seem to rev more freely but you will need to do some serious sweet talking come MOT time. Maybe try some Hyperflow cats.

Tubi, Decat, SCREEMING noise at full revs (and no probs with MOT) here.
I suspect your bypass valve isn't doing its' thing properly. smile

I have a tubi with decats and mine wails quite nicely, so maybe you dont have to splash out on the capristo.

Go for a decat. And FYI the Tubi doesn't have an exhaust valve.

Capristo are 1900 + VAT.

Proper working exhaust valve and tubi will make a lovely noise, but nothing like the sound the Capristo makes.

I had a Tubi on mine, and while it was being fitted, i heard a Capristo, and i was gutted. Drove it back from Verdi's trying to convince myself that the Tubi was the right one for me, but in the end, just sold it and got a Capristo. Pure F1.

My 348 has a Borla Sports exhaust and sounded good but was a very deep noise.

Rather than buying a Tubi I went for De Cats first and that completely changed the tone.

It screems now and is a lot louder so I'm glad I didn't spend a fortune on another back box.

Just wire the valve open. It is a simple job. There are a number of 'how to' threads on F Chat.

Good luck

I know of 3 people who fitted one to their 360's and one to an F430. All but one had problems with the remote talking to the sender unit and had to virtually be 3 inches apart for it to work. And then, on one installation to the 360, it had an intermittent sticking valve which also rattled/resonated. I did consider the twin-sound setup, but after reading about these problems, decided to go straight to the level 3 instead.

One guy I know, who has a successful twin-sound install, never uses the lower setting, it's always set to max!

Your cat bypass valve is stuck/broken.

You know that little rubber air pipe that connects the valve to the air rail? They are known to rub o the heat shield causing the pipe to leak the vacuum that opens the valve. Have a look, that may be the cause rather than the valve sticking.

Is there any chance of getting a picture of this?
