Just a bit of news guys, and I'm not a dealer or trying to sell a car or anything else that might impair my view, but today I witnessed a 'closed' auction where a certain Italian concessionaire was selling off some ex-demo, ex-press/management cars, etc, to franchised dealers - all online.
Anyway, every single car achieved above book and by a fair bit too.
My mate who is the DP of a franchised dealership agreed with what LamboBrum has said on here, in that no one can get good stock and there is very strong demand. Ergo, demand is outstripping supply.

Of course prices are going up, every gallardo/murcielago owner will say the same, desperately trying to talk the market up. All Lamborghini prices, including classics are absolutely rocketing up, it's so clear, that's why I've just taken a hit of over £70K on a car I brought only months ago at the top of the market. Get real. If you don't want to lose money, don't sell the car, but if you need to save the house and get rid of the car, be prepared to take a beatingAnyway, every single car achieved above book and by a fair bit too.

I've just swapped the family bus and was enquiring about nearly new Discoverys and since I printed out some details last week, 2 of the 4 cars have had their prices increased so in my small expierance it does seem to have bottomed and be picking up.
That's used cars, new sales are still on their arse!

Sounds good to me. I've a lovely Orange Murcie in the right colour - Pearl Orange and its been with me since new. Only done 103,000 miles too. 3 Clutches and 630 different drivers. Will anyone offer £90K? Bargain. I might ring Lambo Brum tomorrow Anyway, every single car achieved above book and by a fair bit too.

Hey, the strange thing is that I personally would rather spend the cash on an honest car with 103k miles that has been looked after, than one with.... hmmm, how can I say.... dubious heritage!

Unfortunately, as you said, if you buy at the peak of the market and then sell at the bottom, there's always going to be a bit of soreness. There's probably not a petrolheaded brethren on here that hasn't taken a beating in the past, but that's just life. My point was that certain cars genuinely appear to be at the bottom of the market now and are definitely firming up. In some cases even increasing slightly in value due to lack of decent stock available.Desperado's that needed to sell their cars at any price have now done so, and the people who don't need to sell are holding onto them as they would rather enjoy the car than let it go for peanuts. There's still people out there wanting to buy good cars, therefore, if there are not many available the prices will firm up or increase.
And just for the record, you mention Lambo's, the auction I was talking about wasn't for Lambo's.

Are you sure this is not just dealers cycling their prices up and down?Webber3 said:

Are you sure this is not just dealers cycling their prices up and down?I'm certainly not saying cars are appreciating, no way, but the free fall seems to have stopped.

sorry, but thinking prices are on the up is simply delusional - there may be a little drought in supply as sellers recoil at the bids, but this will be very temporary and once sellers realise that there is not the hope of recovery that they all believe spring will bring (why would there be - look at the economy, its VERY bleak out there, there will be riots on the streets, civil unrest, wars) - there's possibly a bit of "dead cat bounce" going on right now in the market and if anything I think its the stall before the complete collapse of the luxury car market, which WILL happen when everyone pulls their head out their arses and realises quite how in the s
t we all are.....yesterday Gordon added a £20K per person tax burden to every taxpayer in the UK - and people still think use car prices are going to go up......pick up a book on basic economics please!!
