355 spyder info/suggestions please for a newbie purchase

Looking to buy my first 355 spyder, never had a Ferrari before, but keen to try one, as a toy - 3-4k ish miles only a year. Seen them around late £30's early £40;s.... Seem to be a realistic car from a reliability point of view, and potential to hold its values etc. What would you guys suggest EG: Best year, what bad points to look for, must have spec/extras etc. ?? suggestions welcome please...........

PS: My choice will be RED and manual gbox - spyder.
