I like it - people assume I am into shoes and bags cos of my name but I am not. My name actually goes back to when I was 5 years old and had a shoebag that my Mum made me. Abit similar to the photo but not quite so posh.

Usually fly Premium Economy, which is worth the extra ... Upper Class is not really worth the extra if you were paying full whack.

however, flying to Shanghai every 5 weeks or so does have its benefits on the Frequent Flyer points and I got upgraded to Upper both to and from India last week smile

Nice! On my 5th Virgin Gold card - but, bad a call from them the other day to say that with a few more 'Teir' points I might be asked to join a level that's above Gold. News to me, I dodn't realise there was anything else!!!! It's not publicised.

All work travel though - Boo!!

Blimey, you must be going some! What do you do or where do you travel?

I reached silver in about 8 months but Gold is a fair way above that. Hoping to hit it this year but it'll be tight, and that's doing China every 5 weeks, so you must really be going some smile

unless of course you always book Upper, in which case you will be accruing tier points at about double the rate that I do

Up and down to Nigeria every 3 - 4 weeks on Upper Class Virgin & Business LHR - EDI. Soon racks up the miles and tier points.

Thanks goodness I'm not paying....... smile

burriana - you might want to remove your mail address... these pages are indexed by Google, so ever scammer and spammer on the planet will pick it up.

Lagos mainly now. I don't find it too bad - jog round to gym most nights, tennis on Sunday mornings, out on town for Margaritas on Friday nights....

Hmm, last time I was at the Lagos yacht club I ended up in hospital next day with food poisoning & malaria. Nearly killed me.

Been to PH and Onne Port, much prefer Lagos!!!

I'd love to go back there again just to see what it is like now.

There was only really one night club worth going to, between Ikoyi and Victoria island if I remember rightly. I was only 14-18 and used to "borrow' one of our cars and carry 10 Niara around with me in case I got pulled by the cops.

Do they still have the stupid odds and evens days for the car number plates to get into the main city area? The dealers loved that, just for both my mum and dad to be mobile every day we needed 4 cars biggrin

Ha, all changed now! 250 niara / £ and inflation means the average tip is between 250 - 500 niara.

No the odd/even thing changed and even the motor-cycle taxis (okada) wear helmets or their bikes are seized from them.

There are some very, very good restaurants - turkish, lebanese, japanese, chinese, italian etc, etc/ Lagos has come on a lot in the 6 years i've been here. Telecoms in the big business though and with only 35% market uptake, there's massive room for expansion! The best bar was 'Bottles', was run by a prettier version of Paris Hilton and her mother, but they left due to frequency of armed robberies.

I tend to avoid the night-clubs as the hookers physically throw themselves at you and just won't fvck off. Lot's of the guys are into it, but I don't see the point. Disease is just rife too.

Dead bodies. Seen too many dead people in various states of utter disrepair or scattered around in bits. That's the biggest down-side for me. yuck Oh, and people crapping beside the road, can't get used to that either!

Christ that's some inflation! I think it was about 1.2 Niara /£ when I was there.

We moved from Ikeja to Ikoyi because of the armed robberies and yes, seeing dead bodies lying in the road or floating past the Yacht Club while you were having a beer was a fairly common occurence.

Yeah, it's tumbled due to International concerns at their finances and controls, not unsurprisingly!

I stay in a hotel in Ikoyi when I'm here, not bad and close to the office. Wish I'd bought property 6 years ago though - it's gone up by a forty times!!!!! No, not 40%!!!! cry
