Posted this elsewhere, but think it may be more appropriate in here...

As part of a long service award from work, I've been given a substantial amount of Red letter day vouchers to indulge myself.

Obviously Driving experiences are the only choice... http://www.redletterdays.co.uk/Experience/Driving

However, I'm 6'7", and although I can drive my Chimaera with relative ease, I've noticed most of the performance cars have a height limit of 6'4", except for the AMG Merc - which is booked already smokin

So, any AM, Ferrari, Lambo drivers that are this sort of height, so I know what I could realistically argue the toss with if I wanted to book one?

Alternatively, are there any other 6'6"+ PH members who have done any of these days, and did you you tell them before booking, or just turn up and hope for the best, or already knew you could fit in the car?

Cheers!

The problem with some of these driving experience days is that you have to wear a helmet. I'm only about 5'8" and in a Ferrari 360 the top of my helmet touches the headlining, which makes it difficult to turn my head. An instructor told me to slide my behind forward in the seat a bit to compensate, but it does feel a bit awkward driving like that. If you've got big feet you want to make sure you're wearing your smallest slimmest shoes, as the pedals are very close together.

Have to say that the Lambos I've driven haven't been blessed with an excess of headspace. It's one reason why I don't put my Diablo on the track - I can't fit in it whilst wearing a helmet, and I'm only 6' 1".

Yep, find out if you have to wear a helmet, if you do - it'll need to be a roadster whatever you're in. At 6'4, I've had real problems in Astons... Pretty manageable in an LP640 and a 430 though (not masses of room and not wearing a helmet) - reckon it'll be pretty tricky for you (sorry smile). The other thing you may have difficulty with is track steering (no feeding, keeping your hands fixed on the wheel) - your knees will be right up against the wheel in most cars I'd have thought...

Also, echo what's been said about footwear - skinniest driving boots / flat soled trainers you can get away with.

Good luck smile

Andrew.

In a 430 with Racing seats you should be okay - but as there a 3k option I can't imagine the track retals haveing them very often.

I did one of these days through Drivers dream days. Drove a Gallardo and didn't have to wear a helmet.

I am 6ft 4 1/2ins tall with 37 inch legs.
I am comfortable in my current Diablo, as the seats are very low anyway. With the seats right back, leg room is OK, although I have to wear narrow shoes or trainers, as the pedals are very close together. I do not take the car on the track, but would think that I would be unable to wear a crash helmet, as the headroom is limited for me.
I am comfortable in most Ferraris, but find the carbon racing seats a worthwhile extra, as you tend to sit slightly lower.

Might not be an option available to you, but a Noble is built for track days so remarkable headroom for size of car. I have driven Nobles on tracks with helmet. Only 6'4" I'm afraid but bags of headroom. Also bloody fast on the track so a double benefit!!
Alternatively try Atom, Ultima or Palmer Jaguar. all great drives and, as open top, might solve your problem.

Go for convertibles.

I am 6.3 and by personal experience you will fit in:

A 997
A Ferrari430 Stradale
A Ferrari 599
A Ferrari 430
Aston DB9

You will not fit in:

A Lambo LP560
A Lambo Gallardo
An Aston DBS (borderline)

Thanks for all the imput - I'll now focus on the Ferrari events, and check if I need a helmet or not.

Thanks again!

Steve we operate out of Prodrives circuit at Kenilworth, Warwickshire. We dont use helmets at this venue. I'd suggest the 360 Challenge Stradale as it has masses of headroom. LP640 is also good on headroom but not quite as good on kneeroom.
If you want to come down and try have a sit in one to see which one you prefer you are more than welcome. Simon
