Anyone know/looked at this GS?

http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/940479.htm
Is it the wrong time to buy a GS or are they going like the 4200 prices have?
Comments welcome on GS ownership also.
Really like the look of these cars.

I don't know the car but there is no mileage listed? At that price it has got to be 30-40k mileage I reckon..

I bought mine quite recently and there are definitely deals to be done, there are relatively small numbers of these so they should hold their value a bit although the first years depreciation cost the first owner of mine 32k!

Great car, great noise and good handling too. Was this or a 997 and this is more fun I reckon but I am biased.

(Good) GS's are holding their prices, even more so than the rest of the market, given my view. I know screen prices are no guide to sale prices, but based on those they are firm, as they haven't dropped since I purchased mine 6 months ago (and the good cars are selling quickly). This is probably due to limited numbers, and getting hold of quality stock. The dealers aren't slashing prices.

They are great daily driver cars, including plenty of room in the back. The build quality is better than previous models, however I've still had problems. Also expect to pay for parts and servicing.

That could be a bargain, but I'd get it checked by an indy. If it's got lots of miles, it might be due chains which won't be cheap. If there's anything out of place walk away, fixing massers isn't cheap!

On GS ownership however... do it smile I've loved every minute, mine's been faultless. No problems at all, which I have to say surprised me. It's a very well screwed together car (& I came from an Audi S4)

I would suggest you go test drive a few, get familiar with them & how they drive. Look at the service schedule & make sure even the time based stuff has been done, not just the milage services. A looked after on will see you proud.

Prices.. there are certainly some deals to be done but you can already see the market seperating into distressed sellers & ropey examples vs good clean straight cars both private & with dealers. I'd expect to pay late 20's for an earlier one & early-mid 30's for a well specced 06.

Seriously though, go test drive one.. you'll love it.

Thanks for your comments all. Don't mind running costs if the car lives up to my expectations. I love a a lot of drama and the 'ol don't push me to far!
(Bit like a TVR) I was told by TVR Carparts when I sold the TVR to try out the 3200 but I think the Turbos puts me off.
What are the MAIN concerns with the GS? (If any)
I was told to stay away from Skyhook suspension if I want to avoid ££££. Is this true?

main concerns on the gransport.. & there are few.. is just the F1 pump - common to all the CC boxes. To be fair, you don't hear about that many GS's who've had the issue & very few 06 onwards ones. Clutch wear is another for some, but it's too variable to nail down. If it's been thrashed or set up incorrectly (or just driven in heavy traffic regularly) you'll see only a few k out of a new clutch, others are going at 40k plus.

Skyhook is a must to be honest.. the only thing that really fails is the actuator cogs - there are re-con services & metal 3rd party parts are available these days. It does transform the car though.. I certainly wouldn't be looking for one without.

Even though the cars can take it, highish miles kill the value of these cars.

2-4 year old Gransports held their value comparatively well during the last 6 months unlike the 4200s which have been in freefall, but Ive noticed that they've started slipping at quite a rate now. Cant be be helped by Grantourismo prices becoming more down to earth.

Part of the reason I was a little unsure of the GS pricing after looking at the 4200 drop in price. Not sure if it is me or not but the 4200 seems to have been hit very hard lately scratchchin

Clutch - yeah 20-30k+ seems to be the norm for many.

Service - actually very good, not cheap but then again my local audi dealer charge more per hour than egham (where mine goes). Both Ferrari Maserati Little Aston (now an aston dealer) and Maranello's in Egham have been fine. Always helpful, always very pleasent. So far I've not had any bad experiences.

If you need any specific info, just pm me smile

I thought Skyhook was standard on the GS. Customer Service is excellent.

clutches are available from eurospares for £326 +vat
9hrs labour approx required (if fitted at an indy will result in a bill all up including the clutch itself for about a grand)
Not bad if you ask me!

The first thing that struck me on that ad was no milage. For that money, as stated above, 30-40k would be about right. With 68k on it, IMO, you'd need to bargain hard. That car would be a job to shift in a few years with 80-90k on it.

All just IMO etc.

Personally think that there are better Gransports that are available in the market at the moment. However if it has a full service history and has had its clutch replaced recently, this could be a very cheap buy.
