I was wodnering if anyone out there might be ablke to very quickly answer the following questions i have about the early murcielago. Thank you in advance for any info provided

What type of ignition do they use?.ie bosch motronic etc.

Do they have fly by wire throttle (I'm pretty sure that they do)

Do they have an EOBD (European on board diagnostic) socket/port?

Are they hydraulic lifter/adjustable or bucket and shim tappets, if so, how often do they require re shimming?

Does the engine have a cam belt or chain?

it's quad cam, how are the cams driven, both from the timing chain or a chain from a driven cam to the other with a hydraulic tensioner?

Is the steering electronic or hydraulic assisted?

What is the length/width/wheelbase/turning circle and How much does one weigh?

I've got a (small) stack of the original (small) Murciélago brochures, (all of 4" wide by 5.5" deep), open them too hard and you crack the glue of the spine and all the pages fall out...

These fine documents tell the reader that the ignition system of the original Murciélago is an electronic Lamborghini L.I.E., multipoint sequential system.

and that they have a drive-by wire system with traction control as well... and that the final drive is permanent 4wd with much the same Lamborghini viscous traction system as per the later Diablos.

(but has nothing to say about any diagnostic sockets per se, other than it has an OBD system...)

and that they have 48 valves with variable, electronically controlled timing...

I'm certain they are like ALL Lamborghini V12s with a 60° angled cylinder block and chain driven cams... sez now't about a cam to cam drive but I think I know they are both driven from the one chain, not via a linking chain from one to the other...

they are:

4,580mm long, 2,045mm wide, 1,135mm high, have a wheelbase of 2,665mm and weigh 1,650kg with a kerb-to-kerb turning circle 12.5 meters

sez now't about tappets/shims etc... or about the steering other than it's assisted rack and pinion...

Do you want a copy? They are very, erm, rare and as said, quite fragile... I should know, I've just knackered this one getting you (some of) the information you asked for... they have some well known images including pages of rock surfaces with scratched-on 'seven deadly sins' in three languages...

hope this helps - are you getting one that needs some work??

Thank you for the information, i will pass it on. i am looking into getting one and have a man who looks after my race cars that I may ask him to look after a murcielago too. This was his list questions! Please do not damage your brochures anymore, the info supplied is brilliant and i appreciate the help. Best

Do they have fly by wire throttle (I'm pretty sure that they do) - yes

Do they have an EOBD (European on board diagnostic) socket/port? - Not a universal error port. They require special Lamboirghini software and cables

Does the engine have a cam belt or chain? - chain

it's quad cam, how are the cams driven, both from the timing chain or a chain from a driven cam to the other with a hydraulic tensioner? It is quad cam i believe i.e each head has 2 cams. i think each head has a complete chain so its just the timing chain but don't hold me to that

Is the steering electronic or hydraulic assisted? Hydrolic
