why do dealers say "strictly by appointment"? Can you just pop in as you would with any other shop/retail place?

In our case 'Strictly by Appointment' is a polite way of saying 'CLOSED'!

We evil motor traders like a day-off too sometimes!

I know Lambo London and our Rolls dealer have a locked-door policy, otherwise they are inundated and everything that's not nailed down goes walkies.

AndrewD - I'm sure Martin will pick up on your note. He's popping in over the next day or so to tie up some loose ends so I'll mention it to him.
