Countach Anniversary owners/ex-owners- can you answer these?
Discussion
It's a question about your cooling fans: I've noticed that on my car, only one fan seems to come on - the offside (drivers) side comes on, but the nearside one doesn't. The fan will come on for a while, then shut off after the fairly short time it takes to get the temp down, even in stationary traffic. It never comes on on the open road anyway as cooling is fine from the airflow. I've never noticed this before as from the drivers seat you just hear fan noise, I just happened to notice when out of the car recently whilst the fan was on. I need the answer for an Anniversary specifically, as my resarch has shown the fans and other aspects of the cooling are different from other models, and the cooling is much more effective. As I've said, I've never had any cooling problems, which is making me think that the nearside fan may have a higher cut-in point, so it's normal for just the nearside one to come on unless things really heat up. I'm soon going to do a coolant change, and replace the rubber hoses with silicone ones, so it would be a good time to diagnose the problem, but I don't want to waste my time if it's not a problem at all - if you follow me.
If it's wrong, I can diagnose it and sort it no problem, so I just need to know if others are the same or not.
As an aside, I'm interested to hear opinions on the coolant hoses - I'm thinking black silicone for an original look, but can't help thinking red ones might look nice, especially if I change other pipes for matching ones.
Finally, someone on here gave me a link to a site selling new bolts for the split rim wheels (I think his name was Daniel?). I still have the link, but never got what size/length I need, so if someone knows I'd be grateful.

If it's any help, my 88 1/2 QV did what you are describing - one fan would cut in as things warmed up. The second would only cut in if things really warmed up i.e. sitting in traffic on a hot day.
Ahh, that is a help thanks. It's what I suspect mine would do, but it's never got hot enough to bring the 2nd one in. I know the 88 1/2 was a pre-Anniversary with the Anniversary sills, and I've read that pre-Anniversarys had less efficient cooling. I saw on Lamborghini-talk that someone was talking about upgrading to Anniversary fans. I also know that, despite many peoples dislike of the Anniversary styling, it does a better job of shifting the heat. The thing is, my car has never got above 90 degrees, even when sat staionary in traffic or on my drive, on a hot day. The more I think about it, the more I think it's working as it should

Would have been Daniel with the black anniversary. Try a PM. His profile name is
25th Anniversary.
Mike Pullen also had some assorted old split rim bolts.

Yes, 25th Anniversary, that's the chap. I sent him a PM a few months ago but didn't get a reply, and I forgot who it was since then. I'll maybe try again. Meanwhile, if anyone knows him, could they give him a nudge for the info when they see him? IIRC he'd bought a set from the company and was going to check his receipt for the correct bolt size. They also do red coloured bolts, which I briefly though would look the danglies on my car, then changed my mind as it would probably be a bit "bling". I've had the car for 2 years and sometimes still struggle with the originality thing. I've always modified my previous cars but don't want to mess with the Countach, yet occasionally the little gremlin sits on my shoulder and says stuff like "red split-rim bolts would look great" 25th Anniversary.

. (I'm still not entirely convinced that they wouldn't look great though)Anyone got any opinions on the colour for the silicone hoses?
Thanks for the replies, put my mind at rest and confirmed what I thought about the cooling fans.
Agreed about the split rim wheel bolts. I'm going to go for polished stainless which will be an upgrade but retain original appearance. I'm also going to go for black silicone hoses - again an upgrade with original look.

Hi there...
The info I got was for actual wheel bolts, not the ones for the split rims themselves. fwiw the wheel bolts worked out just fine!
Red or polished? Well.. If you need to see it ...try it! At the end of the day, they're only bolts and can be put back to polished if you decide you don't like them over time.
As for the hoses IMHO they should be either: Black (boring but original) otherwise I'd go for matching with either the body or interior colours.
My Esprit is Silver with a pimp-red interior - if I put bling hoses (or anything else for that matter) in that, they'd have to be red!
