Folks

I'm going through a lot of soul searching that I know has been done to death here and on Club Scuderia but for some reason I can't seem to get the right search terms in to pick up the right threads.

Its the F430 vs CS question. I'm strongly considering both, but am just wondering if the CS is always manic all of the time. Whats it like on motorways for example, lets say I was considering a long distance drive down to the south of france or Italy?

When you are not fully "on it", and the exhaust valves aren't opened, is it tolerable or is it always loud?

I've been there before with previous cars I've owned (eg M3 BMW's) with aftermarket exhausts etc that I loved when driving, but couldn't live with on a day to day basis.

I appreciate that the Ferrari is not going to be a daily driver for me, but to convince the missus that I really need one right now, she will want to enjoy the car as well.

Any opinions would be greatly appreciated.

When the valves are not open the exhaust noise is OK for touring. I am taking my CS to the South of France to drive the Col roads later this year. Once you are on the autoroute if not in "RACE" mode the car is fine for the many hours it takes. The CS will give you more "fun" overall than a standard F430. I have the large option for the carbon race seats and find them very comfortable, my previous 360 spider had daytona electric seats and for me 6'2" I sat too high in the car and felt I sat on the car rather than in it and they are (for me) not as comfortable.

I drive mine from Aberdeen To Fort William (180 miles) three times a year and its fine. In a high gear at 70mph cruising is actually very quiet. A Transit Van would be louder.
