Took a diablo out yesterday for the first time since it was painted months ago (been afraid to use it). There was not a chip on the car before we left as Evil Fish will verify. After 30 mins driving I stopped to use the loo at a pub.
At that point the car had approximately 500 chips on the front bumper despite not being close behind anyone? How on earth is this possible? Fly chips? Used only clean dual carriageways virtually the entire drive.

Oh well, back in for another expensive re-spray again this week. This time a different bodyshop!

Guys and gals may be off target here but why not simply get the nose covered with one of those paintshield clear plastic things which would for a time prevent unnecessary resprays.

I had it on my car before. It began to look messy around the edges.

Yes but the q here is what is cheaper? A new paint job every couple of months or a new front end wrap?

When running a car with a low ride height, the underside of the bumper needs repairing every year anyway. Thats what i had to do on my cars. Then i just got rid of the wrap and resided that i would just do the bumpers ever winter.

Pete, I agree mate - run the car like billy-oh over the summer months safe in the knowledge that you can get it resprayed in the autumn and tucked up for the winter in mint condition.

BTW, was this the bodyshop that mucked you around before...?

Ha Ha. LoL Jon, think I know what you meant despite the spelling.

Seriously though, I have covered 2000 miles in my Murcielago with only a few chips. In 30 miles or so, the front has over 500 chips. Simply not possible to be stone chips as the roads weren't stoney and I was about 100 yards behind any car. Doesn't make sense.

I someone told me the storey I wouldn't have believed them. It chipped last year but at least it covered 1000 miles. Intend to get the job done again and sell it. Have other plans now.

Informed that bodyshop their paint lasted less than 30 miles. The bodyshops owner couldn't have been more fowl mouthed if he tried. Getting the paint tested by the new bodyshop so at least I have a report to include with trading standards.
