The best option is the one that does it for you. Just google if you want to see photos of either, there are plenty out there.

For serious answers, you might want to let people know which specific models you might be considering and whether you have a budget to stick to.

Gallardo. Looks better, sounds better, isn't driven (at least as much) by posers who haven't got a clue and, if driven as intended, you'll be constantly giggling yourself silly. Lamborghini is so much cooler than Ferrari anyway (at least with the current line-ups). If you're going for LP560 guise it's faster too (at least on the straights).

I'm currently longing for an LP560 Spyder.

I agonised for a year over Gallardo over F430. I wanted a manual coupe. One of the reasons I bought the 430 was that I thought that if I didn't, I'd still want to buy one. So I bought the F430, only kept it for 9 months and am now aching for a Gallardo.

I have owned both 430 Spider then Gallardo Spyder. Everyone's taste is different so a pretty acedemic question as to which one is better. 430 more practical (it has a reasonable boot and more cabin space). Roof mechanism on Gallardo in my opinion is better than 430. Both are fast (for me!). Gallardo seems more planted on bendy bits (4 wheel drive I guess), uses more fuel than the 430, seems to get more attention than 430. Noise in the Gallardo is awesome cf 430 but I guess with a Tubi the 430 would be comparable. Some people moan the Gallardo is "too Audi" but it does not bother me. Finally Gallardo is more expensive to maintain (service costs etc). I prefer the Gallardo but that is probably as this is current car. Try both and make your own mind up as everone is different.

I disagree with everything you've said.

i had the same dilema.

Bought the 430, for numerous reasons, but the final conclusion was reached after meeting a Gallardo owner who was back at the garage for the 8th time in 12 months to get stuff fixed......oh and loving the 430 when i test drove it!

Drove the LP560, which is epic. Will definately have one at some point, but had to scratch the Fezza itch.

Still loving it by the way, and what a great decision to have to make! Enjoy!

Odd statement. It what way exactly? Because of his opinion?

I suspect, mostly because a large part of the original reply was a load of c0ck...

To say the Ferrari owners are predominantly posers and Lambo owners predominantly are not is just a nonsense.

I've met LOADS of Ferrari and Lamborghini owners and I've met as many enthusiasts as I have posers for each marque. (In all fairness I'd say the enthusiast to poser ratio is about 9:1 but that's because people wouldn't be here or at events in the first place unless they were enthusiasts!)

Both Ferrari and Lamborghini are halo brands and as such will attract "lifestyle icon" purchasers - people who simply buy the 'label' as it is what they think they are supposed to have. It's shallow but no less valid a reason to own a car than ours I guess...

Whichever car he got ...or indeed one of many dozen others... would have the exact same "giggling like a schoolboy factor" going on. The 430 is a superb car, as is the Gallardo.

They offer many similarities but also very much have their own distinctiveness smile

Gallardo's Audi DNA makes it possible to use this car as an everyday mode of transport. It is a true everyday Supercar. I have not spent allot of time in an F430 so would not know if the build quality is of the same standard.

Both great cars and not much in it in terms of speed and handling.

You have to laugh don't you!!! Both great cars, both attractive to like minded people. Differnce is subjective so both or one of them will probably suit you depending upon personal preference. I find it amusing that everyone's opinion is a load of $£%^& unless it is the same as the person writing the reply. Have a blast in both and make up your own mind. Its a bit like what is best, tea or coffeee?

Depends what you are looking for and your intended use of the vehicle, in addition which versions of the model you are interested in.

There is a bit of stigma around the Ferrari marques in some circles especially when I was in LA, but as mentioned buy what is best for you.

btw The stock Gallardo is slightly lighter than a stock F430

To deduce from what I said that I meant "Ferrari owners are predominantly posers and Lambo owners predominantly are not" is a nonsense. You know as well as I, particularly w.r.t. spyders, there are more posers (and WAGs) driving Ferraris, so if it's something you're bothered about, it'd be a black mark against the 430. That is all I said. Yes, they may be fantastic engineering achievements, but the most recent models lack the lunacy that Lambos provide (original Gallardo aside), as well as the theatre, drama and all-round spectacle associated with the offerings from Lamborghini. I must note an exception for the 430 Scud; that IS a beast.

Obviously, it's a subjective matter, so attacks on my own opinion highlight the narrow-mindedness and bigotry of some posters. That should be reason, if any, for the site to go "down the pan" (not my personal opinion, I must add).

Agree with the 'halo brands' bit, however such people aren't necessarily posers.

I absolutely adore Ferraris, pre-360 though. Just don't make them like they used to, I guess; much more style and class back then.

bad company

Both great cars BUT if you want to do any touring it has to be the Ferrari. The boot in the Gallardo really is a bit of joke.tongue out

Google for the Evo article that compares these two.

I've not driven either yet, but I know it will be the 430 for me when the prices have come down more. I think the Gallardo is much better looking but it's the driving experience I'm after so it's got to be the 430.

I know quite a few people at work who have purchased fezza or lambos who know jack st about cars.

Rather than just trying to buy a brand to show everyone they are rich, they just wanted a super fast car and rather than mess around with reseach / smaller names they have the means just to buy at the top of the tree.

Ferraris and Lambos by price are top of the tree.

Think this additional context is important.
