No competition, get the Gransport.
I bet I get a different answer if I post the same comment on the Jag forum!!!It all depends on what you want.
If you want to join the masses get a Jag. If you want to join the elite, get a Masser! lol
Next time you are out and about, count how many Jags you spot, and how many Maserati's you spot.
You will be lucky to spot one Maserati!
Oh, and I am no where near 50!

I had the same dilema, xkr or GS - the XKR is a very accomplished car, does everything well, the boot is bigger, quiet etc. The GS is fab though, loved it. Ended up with a perfect spec 06 which has been faultless
The XKR was nice, I just decided I didn't play golf, was too young for one etc lol. Stereo typing I know but just one of the reasons I ended up with the massy & not regretted it one bit.
Drive em both though, you'll either love or loath the CC box - if you hate it, the XKR's auto with paddles will appeal. Horses for courses.
On the flip side, if you fancy an 06 GS I'm thinking about selling mine so pm me if you want a perfect, well loved & low milage one
