Hi all,

I'm considering a new daily driver and the Maserati has sprung to mind. I know very little about them but am looking to spend around 35-40k on one and obviously buy as new as possible.

Anything i should specifically be looking to avoid or options that are must have's? Will be going to test drive a few vehicles in 2 weeks time to see what tickles my fancy.

Any other saloons that i should be considering? I have thought about the RS6 but am thinking that it looks better as an estate and is a little too big and have also considered an A8 but that is also pretty big.

Thanks in advance.

To mind, I'd suggest the 19inch wheels (not the 18's), front and rear parking sensors, CD multi changer (the nav CD will be in the central slot) telephone preparation is also handy.

I guess your main dilemma will be automatic vs duoselect. If you are going to be sitting in lots of traffic jams/slow moving stop start traffic then I'd suggest the automatica.

Cars come with a service pack that covers the first three years (free servicing).

As for size the QP is 5.1 metres long, I'd estimate at least as big as an A8. The boot isn't very big as space is taken up by the electically reclining/sliding rear seats.

Try www.maseratilife.com , lots of QP owners over there, most of whom came over from MB etc.

Try to get a sport rather than a non sport. The duoselect gearbox is very much a love it or hate it thing. Definitely not great for driving in stop start traffic.

Don't the 20inch wheels mess up the Skyhook suspension? Evo actually gave the Sport GT a lesser score than the regular QP due to the standard wheels.

Not sure if it is in budget but I have had a QP GT-S for the last 10 months and it is definately the one to go for if you can. Doesn't have Skyhook and doesn't need it far better resolved than the Skyhook set up. Having said that I have also driven a Sport GT and whilst not as good as the GT-S, was very impressed with it. Main thing to look for is history, they must be looked after properly but if they are will prove to be very reliable if my experience is anything to go by. s for whether to get Auto or Duo-Select, having driven both the Auto seems to suit the nature of the car better. The Duo-Select can be fun for a while but as an ownership proposition would drive me round the bend, many will no doubt disagree but try both and form your own view. And also go to Maserati Life as suggested above, loads of information there and a very helpful bunch. Best of luck.
