Finally spotted my first Enzo yesterday outside of the confines of Romans or a motor show. It was parked outside Hyde Park Corner Tube station all morning and had the plate TK*. Anyone on here per chance?

Front number plate optional on those, eh? Enzos are officially exempt from the law. smile

Can't say I blame them - designers spend hours and millions getting the car to cleave the air as efficiently as possible and then we have to slap a huge slab of plastic on the front.

I drive past there regularly - that Enzo has been outside the hotel for over a month!

Perhaps Jacko forgot it when he left...

That is total bks!

You honestly think that the Gov/DVLA would consider the design and make it exempt from having a front number plate.

The fact is that no number plate = £30 fine and the majority of Enzo owners consider that a small price to pay to maintain the look.

Richard,

Can I suggest you revise your line in sarcasm. The problem is that you take it just bit to far and it makes you sound stupid and detracts for the witty sarcastic persona you are trying to create.

Is this another attempt at sarcasm?

If so please see me comments to Richard/Dick.

I always thought that cars that have been designed without the front plate, don't need to wear one. I'm not sure of the legality of putting the design forward for acceptance at the right level, but seems to be the case, hence motorbikes etc have no frontal area etc, so dont wear one.

I always thought that motorbikes were exempt for safety reasons?

The Road Vehicles Display of Registration Marks Regulations 2001 said:

The Road Vehicles (Display of Registration Marks) Regulations

7.

(1) This regulation applies to vehicles, other than works trucks, road rollers and agricultural machines, first registered before the relevant date.

(2) Except as provided in paragraph (4), a registration plate must be fixed in the manner required by paragraph (3) on -

(a) the front of the vehicle, and

(b) the rear of -

(i) the vehicle or,

(ii) where the vehicle is towing a trailer, the trailer or,

(iii) where the vehicle is towing more than one trailer, the rearmost trailer.

(3) This paragraph requires each plate to be fixed -

(a) in a vertical position or, where that is not possible, in a position as close to the vertical as is reasonably practicable, and

(b) in such a position that in normal daylight the characters of the registration mark are easily distinguishable, in the case of a plate fixed on the front of the vehicle, from in front of the vehicle and, in the case of a plate fixed on the rear of the vehicle or trailer, from behind the vehicle or trailer.

(4) In the case of a motor cycle and a motor tricycle which does not have a body of a type which is characteristic of the body of a four-wheeled vehicle, a registration plate need not be fixed on the front of the vehicle.

Exempt vehicles

3. Nothing in these Regulations applies to -

(a) an invalid vehicle, that is a vehicle the unladen weight of which does not exceed 254 kilograms and which is specially designed and constructed, and not merely adapted, for the use of a person suffering from a physical disability and solely used by that person; or

(b) a pedestrian-controlled vehicle, that is a vehicle the unladen weight of which does not exceed 450 kilograms which is neither constructed nor adapted for the carriage of a driver or passenger.
Fixing of registration plates: vehicles registered before the relevant date
Please could someone show me where it says Enzo's/SLR's etc are exempt.

This is a complete urban myth which appears to have been spread by who own Enzo's and people called Richard.

1 - you are a humourless cock. Just so you don't miss it this time - YOU. wink

As it happens, I was being sarcastic about it being exempt - although it turns out that I may have inadvertently NOT been sarcastic, if there indeed is some sort of factual exemption in place.

whilst you are dishing out your delicious advice, might I recommend granting others with a small amount of the HUGE intelligence you consider yourself to have. There's a nice chap.
