Hi Guys,

I have a 360 Spider with standard brakes all round - they have recently started to squeel as it's driving me mad - I also did a track day yesterday and wasn't too impressed with them. Can anyone recommend a set up that is great for the road and also for fast driving - high demand braking which will not make a horrible squeel?

Thanks

Craig

The brake set up isn't up to track use. You will at least need to change to race spec fluid (SRF is good), braided hoses and semi race compound pads (I used to use Ferodo DS 2500, which will eat your discs). However, the pads will likely to squeak more in towns.

Get some CCB fitted if you check Club Scuderia Hazy has some second hand from his CS for sale these will greatly improve the braking.

what about fitting something like Green Stuff or Red Stuff pads and discs? I only do the odd track day it's more for road use without squeel

yikes my experience is that 'stuff' is a good description

Go with a brand that are more in tune with performance than looks all IMHO of course, Ferodo DS2500 are good, great initial bite, high dust rate, or Mintex 1144 are worth a try, a bit cheaper I think and shouldn't squeal too much plus less dust

I've tried the yellow pads which were no good on track.

Agreed. If you are serious about braking, stay away from any 'stuff' pads...

Porterfield pads are the way to go. They also work well from cold and are pretty much dust free.

I tried some of the XXX Stuff pads, absolute crock of ste!

Yes they were cheap but useless, in the end I bit the bullet and bought some Pagid RS14, expensive but awesome performance.

But that was on a track car, I can't believe the standard brakes are not up to road use is they are in decent nick.

I had a complete set of EBC RedStuff pads fitted to my 360 and they were good with no fade and great bite. I only changed them due to EBC's (false) claim that they gave off little dust...........my 'arris! Porterfields are pretty much dust free smile.

Well honestly, on a Caterham and an Elise they were absolute crap on track, almost no bite, very spongy pedal feel.

Pagids are awesome, never even heard of Porterfield so I can't comment.

Porterfield are little known in the UK, but well respected over in the USA.
