I may be confused, but is this forum now the Lamborghini Club UK forum. Unless I am mistaken it links from the website.

If so, would it make sense to split Lambo and Ferrari?

Anyone agree/disagree?

There is an actual LCUK forum which pops up underneath this one on the Gassing Station main page - Send a PM to Lynne Bull to sort it out for you smile

[part-time LCUK - PistonHeads moderator mode / on]

the direct link from the LCUK website to LCUK's forum pages on PistonHeads is open to paid-up LCUK Members only...

so, the F, M, L & B forums remain accessible from anywhere to anyone who has joined PistonHeads but our bit just ain't I'm afraid.

One the great things in life is the ability to feel somehow powerful and also feeling instantly sorrowful if any such power is exercised... I've done exactly 1 deletion in the LCUK section of PH (can't do it anywhere else) and felt like a complete Stalinistical neo-fascististerist git when I did...

[part-time LCUK - Pistonheads moderator mode / off]

And really, being a moderator of just a tiny little corner of PistonHeads isn't exactly that great a chunk of power, not when you have access to a large batch of only-just out-of-date missiles with all the launch gadgets such as those as 'ridden' by the the EDF recently at Brooklands!

There has been some talk of separating the F, M, L & B thread recently from some people but, for my part, I'd say we would all be better off staying together. In any case, don't the Ferrari people already have (lots of...) forums elsewhere anyway either Ferrari club(s?) based or in a more general sense?

I've been told there is a growing feeling of annoyance for many here that's caused by endless off-topic discussion and lots of in-bhing stuff by some folk. If this is a nuisance for some, I'd suggest a bit of deep breathing and water-off-the-duck's-back training or just pay no attention once you know who the 'culprits' are and which threads to avoid! It's the same almost everywhere on PH, apart from the thread for Gilbern drivers/owners where they are probably just happy that anybody ever looks there at all.

I would imagine that is simply the Club's forum - it is just being hosted by pistonheads for convenience.

This is PH's own thread which is their own prerogative!

correct Robin..

just to chuck my 2p in on the split/dont split discussion.
As mentioned ferrari forums abound, as do many single marque areas.
The whole idea of PH is to being petrolheads together, i actually think there are too many distinct forums as it is.

by seperating the Italians and you would lose far more than you gain.

at that level some own both, there is a friendly rivalry between then and banter occurs which would be lost be seperating.
Where would Bug and Maser owners go? that would be a very quiet place.

yes there's a lot of off topic stuff, but this is a forum, people come here to chat with their mates and other people are welcome to join in.
There are no barriers to entry or truly nasty people on here so why change what isn't broken?

All you need to do is insult Pete and you're part of the forum already (i'm only kidding.............................................. you have to perform a secret forfeit as well)

For better or worse, it was decided a few years ago that LCUK would benefit from our own means of intra-club communication other than the phone, scraps of emails, the Club magazine or even a forum sited within our own website and all the security grief that could bring us.

Lacking a vast membership or any great level of funds anyway, we approached the deities of PistonHeads and requested their help and assistance in this respect.

We were very fortunate indeed and our requests were mostly granted. Now, we have a bundle of our Members taking advantage of that benefit but, for their own reasons no doubt, not all Club Members take part... It was 'always like that' in LCUK, always will be as well, I expect/hope.

We are few and we are disparate, that's what makes LCUK great.

We rarely clot together in any mass but rely instead on the simple proposition that, even if there is only one Lamborghini at an event of any kind, it's presence adds to the quality of the event in a proportion far greater than dozens or even hundreds of other marques, great though they may well be.

When we are (relatively) many, then even the organisers of events take great pleasure in sending an endless stream of thanks and congratulations... I received an email from Phil Ward, Auto Italia's editor with these few words, he is from Yorkshire after all and words of admiration are in thin supply in thum thurr parts:

...Brooklands was huge this year. Your chaps were better located and seemed to be quite happy.

People who went there will all have seen one LCUK Member who has been in the Club for many years decades arriving there in his Diablo GT - you know, that black one that will have frightened everyone, again.

He's the consummate 'outsider-within' the Club and is usually seen arriving late, perhaps leaving early but, note if you would, still doing that year in and year out. I'm never certain that he doesn't come on here every day or that he never has at all. I'm still not convinced that he never cleans the thousands of bugs off his cars from one year to the next though I think some of the more obvious ones have dead-pet names now... It's never been conclusively shown that he didn't create the concept of mass-travel in supercars to Le Mans or elsewhere but he's done it for years now and has the points and bans to prove it...

We've just acquired a new Member who is driving his Gallardo to Cyprus as you read this. He's going to write about it and take some pictures. Soon, PHers might see them here or on the LCUK forum or in the Club's magazine, if you are a Member. He's a pilot and is now 41 and quite recently divorced. He might fit some people's ideas of a certain 'sort of chap' in some respects, I just see yet another (a)typical LCUK Member who has suggested the trip could be done in any car quite easily but it's certainly going to be more interesting in his Lambo...

Lamborghini Club UK - better at being a load of determined individuals than most™

- or did y'all buy your Lamborghini(s) to be part of something more easily defined? scratchchin

As a non F, M, L & B owner but a regular reader of the forum since the Porsche forum got clogged up with with a growing volume of crap threads like "the value of my car in the credit crunch" and "How much should I not drive it before it's worth less than the finanace" threads, I would say keeping it altogether is of huge benefit.

As an outsider it appears to be mainly Lambo (I want one, the wife doesn't and she wears the trousersweeping) and some Ferrari. The others don't make that much of an impressiona and the overall traffic doesn't strike me as that high. Splitting would just dilute the traffic even further.

The Porsche forum is always debating this, and turning it down. I think for those sites that have done it like 911uk.com and others, it spoils the overall feel and exposure for the subject area.

Not the same comparison of splitting Porsche into different models. Do you think all the German marques should be put in together? Or all the British marques?

For the casual observer or anyone too lazy to be able to select "Lambo" or "Ferrari", then perhaps best lumping together....For many owners, there's simply far too much bks here now and they don't bother posting anymore.

Splitting the forum is a long overdue change.
