lhd uk car's to europe.
Discussion
i recently put a 1993 911 964 lhd up on pistonheads for sale at what i thought was top dollar. i was swamped by callers from germany.it seems any lhd aircooled porsche is attracting massive interest. they are going for circa 20k sterling!! now, i also have a lhd 348 spider, and does the fora think the same would be true for such a car? is it just the strength of the euro? if so..i am in an attractive position to sell on and get back in to something rhd..no?
A Dutch friend of mine just secured a LHD 348 Spider for £27,250, he reckons it's worth around €42k and €54k depending on Mileage/ condition on the mainland but I'd doubt you get that for it, I'd probably pitch around the mid to late £30s. Drop me a mail if you are thinking of selling I know of a dealer that might take it in what would be an easy deal

LHD 348 Spiders would fetch 45.000EU on the mainland, so about 39.500 GBP.
That is a bit to positive, but fact is that a LHD car will fetch more money on the mainland compared to the UK.348's will do between 25k - 50k, but overall 30k-35k is normal (remember that a imported car is still seen as undesirable, espacially when service history isn't 100% clear)
Problem is that the difference has to be worth it to take more effort and risk. I am from the netherlands and recently bought a LHD Maserati Ghibli in the UK and when i got there the car didn´t had FSH and there were a couple a of rustspots altough both were supposed to be the opposite. But when you made all that effort and expect to drive the car back home you don´t just walk away without the car, it´s not that easy. Unfortunatey when i got home one head gasket was gone so now with all my trouble i still have a expensive car in the end.
At the other site it´s the same for the seller; i have my rare BMW E30 320iS for sale in Germany (i'm from the Netherlands) for a very reasonable price and from the 20 reactions i got, a 100% was fraud (no joke, literaly 100%).
So when selling to somebody you don't know brings along risks.
But now I am also curious about that 348
