Hi All,
This is my first post although I have been browsing the forums for a while now! I'm just looking for a bit of advice on the Ferrari 360 Spyder!
I'm currently looking at an 04 car. Is there any need to get it compression tested as advised on the F355? Also any other pointers to look out for?
I've currently looked at a few and as it will be the first Ferrari I want it to be right! In fact any car that you buy you want it to be right!
All being well then I'll hopefully be along to a few shows etc this year!
Thanks in advance for your responses!

I had a 360 spyder, manual, for a while. Very nice car and no reliability issues aside from a clutch related one whereby the gear shift mechanism would get increasingly awkward as the car warmed up.
Apparently there was a 'recall' on 360's relating to this problem and if it hasn't been done its around £2k to fix. Someone else on here might be able to tell you in more detail abou this isssue, than I can.

Why would it cost you £2k if you missed a recall? Do Ferrari only offer free recalls for limited period? Surely if your car goes in for service and requires recall work they do it at time of service, no?Apparently there was a 'recall' on 360's relating to this problem and if it hasn't been done its around £2k to fix....
Haven't owned a Ferrari so asking.
I think if you are looking to buy a 360 Spider and are minded to have an inspection before buying then having a compression test as part of the inspection makes sense. The compression test won't really add anything to the inspection cost. You will be circa £200-£300ish for the inspection. I had the full PPI when buying my F355 and took a lot of reassurance from the results. I sold it 2 weeks ago and bought a 360 Spider and actually didn't feel the need to have a PPI before hand although that is more to do with the fact that it was bought from a dealer and came with an extended 1 yr warranty. I would have had a PPI had it been a private purchase.
I had an 05 spider. bought it at 24,000 miles, did 13,000 in 2 years and had no problems. people with more knowledge than me will give you details but most common issues seem to be ball joints, cambelts every 3 years but not expensive and clutch. depending upon where you live QV in Ascot will do an inspection. I used them for servicing and they were very good. I hope this helps
PS Get a tubi to make it sound great!!

Cheers for the responses so far guys!
Does anyone else have a view on getting it compression tested?
Also does anyone recommend someone to inspect it near B'ham?
Would it be necessary to put it on the machine considering its a manual? I've been told that as its a manual the amount of data saved is considerably less than that on an F1! (this was by an inspector previously recommended to someone else on these forums!)
Cheers
