Without seeing the cars, my only thoughts are....

1st - Rardley Motors got good rep, so that's a positive. Prefer the colour but that's a personal choice.

2nd car - Garage I've never heard of. Which isn't to say it is not good but would make me more cautious.

3rd car - 6k miles in 16 years, what a waste. Hope it's been properly recommissioned recently for proper driving. Better off going to another "polisher". Furlongers have good rep also though.

Indpendently PPI *any* car you decide upon, regardless of dealer.

Good luck.

The red one.

The difference in mileage will give you three years running at 3k a year and it will still be lower than the blue one.

I love the 348s. I'm on my second, the first being a Spider. Mileage that low is always going to be a worry, and it is still too expensive.

I'd probably not buy the 348, you'd be frightened to put miles on it. Have you considered the Blue /Tan car at Elms, I'd have bought but for the fact it's a manual and I wanted an F1, similar price to the Red one smile

Andy,
We sold the Le mans blue 355 Spider to its current owner, please give me a call if you wish to discuss.

You shouldn't always be so dismissive Owen/Derek (?) This is why you get most people's backs up.

Just taken from the classifieds, there are only fourteen 348s available, against fifty-five 355s. Good 348s are becoming sought after cars. Your dislike of them will not alter that.

The Spider only had 69 rhd built. So it does stand a chance, but not for some time and I wouldn't pay a "classic" premium for it.

Having said that ... if the OP is planning on keeping it 10 years plus, then I would bet it will rise in value.

The one to get for me in that situation would be a 512TR.

Al, the 512TR is a great piece of kit, but if he's considering a 348 or a 355 i'd think a 512 would just be too bulky in comparison to the nimble V8's
It is a futre classic no doubt, but i would suggest that all the low volume models will be, even the 355.
It's only after that i.e. the 360 onwards that the mass production cars will not achieve classic status.

went down to rardleys today, met mike. very nice chap just talked me through the various options and what the potential pitfalls of the various models were. tim he mentioned you and the 355. i don't think that particular 355 is he one for me. i really like the one at the elms but it has a black hood and i prefer blue.....

on the 348 - the mike seems to think that the spider is a good car, as its a spider and is in a good colour combo......

With 6k miles, you are paying a big premium for the low mileage. Every thousand miles you put on it, you will be eroding that premium value.

If you want it to look at and polish then fair enough, but they are far too good a car to have sat in a garage not being used.

there is a black F1 355 spyder on here with no history but apparently last 7 mots so mileage should be correct as they would back this up (especially if the last few years)......would seem cheap at £31k.....my question would be is if it received a clean bill of health after an inspection should the lack of history be an issue? surely most important would be that the car has a clean bill of health and also knowing what needed doing? doing....

I'd guess that car is a LHD to RHD drive conversion so the mileage is presumably since the UK Speedo was put in?, note the dual mirror controls on passenger door and bonnet release on that side too

if it was i wouldnt want it and therefore would not be worth getting inspected, as would be a waste of cash, do you know that car then? on the first point though, is lack of service not a prob if and independant inspection came back clean?

Andy, the indications from the photos are that it is not as it should be for a normal RHD car, as regards no service history you have to consider the impact on resale and whether it's missed a substantial amount of servicing in the past. An inspection may show the Car to appear to be outwardly OK but for example if in the past the oil hasn't been changed for a long period and the bearings are therefore considerably more worn than normal then the engine may let go in the future, this type of wear will not show up in a general inspection or compression check etc. btw I do not know this Car at all and it may be entirely genuine but personally I wouldn't buy it based on the questions over it's History

If you want to get into the cheapest Car on the market then you must accept compromises, personally I'd avoid this route and buy the best you can afford looking at condition and history, it'll cost you less in the long term
