Larini on a Gallardo?
Discussion
When I was looking for my Gallardo I viewed a nice black coupe with a Larini exhaust but after the test drive I noticed it had got so hot that the back bumper had slightly warped. On closer inspection the paint just above the pipes was blistered from the heat. I’m not sure if this was down to the exhaust being badly fitted or the exhaust itself.

I noticed that on a Gallardo I was looking at about 6 months ago, same exhaust, same thing. The owner showed me it themselves and said they were really disappointed. He went for it over the tubi one because of cost, but he said he regretted doing so.gumshoe said:

Justin already had an email from me on this subject not that my opinion matters really but, simply put:
C A P R I S T O
...not cheap, not easily sourced in the UK, bit too shiny for some tastes and very loud as well, afaik...
I had a capristo on my 355 it was the best money I have ever spent on a car. C A P R I S T O

The system you saw/heard may have been a fake, as happens so often with people buying stuff off eBay and trying to pass it off as a Tubi/Larini/etc once fitted to their car to help the sale, down the line. There are a couple of companies in Nottingham who actually promote their products as being copies of the main branded exhausts. Maybe you know of them being from that way, if so be weary, as one of those Nottinghamshire companies blew up a 360 at GrayPaul on the test run after fitting, ask Jeff at Shiltech for the lowdown. Why would a number of owners be driving round with an exhaust warping their bumpers, and not remove the said items - surely that would hinder the sale of a £60k+ car? Hmmmm. Why not give Larini a bell, as I am sure they would love to hear from you about your experiences.

The plot thickens. The car was advertised with a Tubi, the exhaust fitted was warping the bumper which the owner was happy to drive around with "cos it retracted when cool", and the invoice said Larini???? I think you were right to walk away mate, sounds like a fake exhaust, fake invoice, and a dodgy seller. Seems the Nottinghmashire 'fake' exhaust trade is still active as ever. If they couldn't even sort your 350z what hope a Supercar eh? Shame. They are just ruining it for the genuine guys who want a genuine Tubi/Capristo/Larini.

Speaking from experience, having fitted a complete Larini system (including sports cats) well over a year ago and having covered a few thousand miles since, I've not experienced any problems with the heat from the exhaust system what so ever. The paint on the bumber hasn't been effected what so ever, so I can only assume the problems you have experienced, maybe down to fitment.
