"HELP" i have a rhd 94 diablo 5.7 rwd, i changed the distirbutor cap on it and lost the firing order on it, the firing order 1,7,4,10,2,8,6,9,5,11 shown on the engine doesnt seem to be doing it, the car starts and idles rough has no power and the engine tone is not right, i may have the postion one on my distibutor cap wrong, i am using a jag xjs cap which is exactly the same but can fit either way as it has no locating pins for which way up, i would really appreciate any information on this, prefebly a daigram of all the leads and what postion they would fit in, the cap has 1A,1B,5A,5B,3A,3B,6A,6B,2A,2B,4A,4B AND COIL A AND COIL B ON IT, i am situated in Birmingham.....Thanks

I presume that cylinder number 1 will be at the rear of the car at the timing chain end.

Locate cylinder number 1 and remove this spark plug. Turn the engine over by hand (this may be very hard and require a long breaker bar on a 12 cylinder engine) until cylinder number one is at TDC (Top Dead Centre - piston fully up).

When it is in this position, the rotor arm will be pointed at the location of the distributor cap that's for cylinder number 1. Locate this and put the leads on in order after that.

Sounds like you're firing order is wrong, which you've already worked out for yourself.

I assume you've tried the obvious of trying it the other way around?

If it runs at all then at least some, and probably most, of the leads are in the correct place. Therefore you can be confident that the cap is in the right place. Perhaps you have transposed some of the leads, or are mistaken about the cylinder numbering scheme.

1 – 7 – 4 – 10 – 2 – 8 – 6 – 12 – 3 – 9 – 5 – 11

Don't blame me blame the lambo forum...because apart from the two omissions the order seems to be the same as the one in the OP...

some very good info i followed but the confusing part is it didnt work lol, am i right in believing that you dont follow the firing order as stated, you have to go straight across than one up ie: plug 1 fires on one next one number 7 which should be in postion 2 will fire at postion 8 and so on...
