Ferrari 360 04 Manual "limp / Safe Mode" HELP!!!!!!
Discussion
Hello all,
Ok, so, so far not so good! I have had my car about 2 weeks, and use it only weekends / nice weather.
I tried to start it up last night first time for a few days and it only felt like half the engine was alive! Now I have spoke to a few people regarding this and they say that if I do not use the car regulary then to turn the button for the battery under the front hood.
So my question is has anybody else's 360 gone into limp/safe mode if so what have you done to get it back to mormal. I have been told to turn the battery button off and leave it for 24 hours, then to put the ignition on and let it settle for a couple of secs, then start it up with no throttle and leave it on until the engine fans come on. once this has happened turn it off again then back on and take for "Normal" spin. then should all be ok
Can anyone help or advise
Thanks again
John

I used to own 360 Spider. Happened to me only once in 2 years but I did use mine most weekends. I just switched the battery save switch to off (the one in the front boot) and left for a couple of minutes then switched it on and started up normally. Sorry if this does not help but worked for me.
Not a 360 but had exactly the same with my 355 two weekends in the hot weather, did the battery / start and leave for 10 mins and still had the light on.
Then booked it in and whilst on the way to the garage 10mins into the journey the light went off and all was normal !!! Took it in anyway and all was fine just got a bit confused !!
I would try the battery off thing then take it round the block

That's rubbish. I leave mine for 3 weeks at a time and never any problems. Sounds like a coil issue to me. They do go from time to time. Its an easy fix - any AA/RAc man can do it. You just need to get hold of a spare coil or two. I always carry 2 with me just in case Ok, so, so far not so good! I have had my car about 2 weeks, and use it only weekends / nice weather.

Sorry not being at all mechanically minded what do you mean coils where do i get them from, what do i actually ask for in the shop etc.
Cheers
John
John, just call Karl or Kabir at Verdis. 0208 756 0066. Get them to post a coil or two.
Made by Bosch I think but they'll know exactly what you mean. I think They are £50/60 each. Then get the AA out and get them to change the faulty coil(s). They sit on top of the sparkplugs so its no major work.
Alternatively, just go to your service centre (don't know who that is) and get them to do it.
Its a fair bet its a coil I think but obviously difficult to say from a distance.
Cheers

Happens on the F430 if you make more than one attempt to start the engine. i.e. if you press the start button, but let go before the engine has started, and then press it again straight away, the engine starts in limp mode. To stop this happening you have to turn the ignition off with the key if you've made a "false start" as it were, before having a second go.
Did that make sense?

I had this once in my 360 spider. It was a hot day and we were giving kids a run round a short track. Car got hot. It started on 4. I turned the ignition off and restarted it fine and no problems since (2 years)
Hi 900,Yea I did this a few weeks ago when it first happened, and did what you did and it was fine, it was only since a couple of days ago when I tried to start it up and it happened and nothing is fixing it,
