Is it safe to park F360 onstreet overnight in London?
Discussion
Basically thinking of getting myself Modena or Spider. The only thing which stops me at the mo (funny enough, not money) is I don't have garage/off street parking. I leave in Hampstead area, NW3.
The street where I normally park my cars isn't busy so I'm not worrying about bumper scratches etc. However I do worry about vandalism as few cars around the area have had windows smashed in past 6-12 month, some belongings stolen from inside the cars.
There are quite a few sport cars parked around onstreet - Gallardo parked few minutes walk from my house, R8 round the corner, F360 was parked round the corner for few month as well.
What do you think? ... also, would Modena be a safer option? Or am I mad & shall I just leave the idea till I have enough funds to by house with garage/offstreet and get smth like Maser, 911 or SL at the meantime which attracts less attention?
I'd love to rent the garage but limited number of them around, I think would be £200pcm+ even I if find smth. Also I doubt I can find something less than 20 minutes walk from my house.

You can be sensible about it, not leaving things in the car to attract broken windows etc and it'd probably be ok. To be honest a Evo or Scooby or something is more likely to attract the wrong kind of attention than a Ferrari.
As above, depends if you're a worrier or not. Personally I'd rather leave a Coupe than a Spider outside all night.

I leave my 355 Spider it the street in West Kensington, has been there 6 months and have had no problems really...someone poured a can of lager on it once but that's been it. Lots of people stop to look but no scratches. One of the local cats likes to sit on it for some reason, not sure why.
I had a cover made for it which detracts attention also, and keeps any rain out (good for the Spider)
Like the other poster said, just make sure you leave nothing in it and it shouldn't attract the wrong kind of attention.

Different cars seem to provoke the 'jealousy' angle. Are there are marques you would consider?
The other option is to buy a shed to park outside and use that to drive to a secure parking location - drive in in a £500 banger, whack it in the spot where the Ferrari is and drive out in the 360? As mentioned, you'll probably save enough money on the insurance to cover a shed and you also then have a daily hack for the shopping runs etc (which I'm presuming you wouldn't use the Ferrari for?).

I had 996 & still have Cayenne T as family car so I don't think I'd be going back to 911sOther options were Maser & SL55 but they are not as exciting as 360. I had Supra TT in the past parked at the same place for about a year, it did attract a lot of attention (much more than Porsches) however I didn't have any problems with it there (actually ones someone tried to open the window carefully to take Supra for a drive but alarm went off; minor damage to the side glass, just replaced the glass, nothing to worry about)

Not bad idea, thx, might consider it if I can't find anything within few minutes walkalexms said:
I'd pay £200 pcm for garage/secure parking but I can't find anything within 5-10 minutes walk. Don't want to walk half an hour every time when I need to drive somewhere.
I know that insurance premium should be much less with the garage/parking though.
Cheap scooter or pushbike kept at the house?I know that insurance premium should be much less with the garage/parking though.
Not really very practical I know...
Luckily I live in an apartment block with it's own 24/7 underground cctv monitored car park which is a nice piece of mind. No monthly payment either, as every flat as an accompanying space.
At least in Manchester there are several places where you can get contract monitored parking, usually starting from 100pcm.

As you mention their are loads of nice cars on the streets of London. I would only be worried about a car that is rarely seen such as Carrera GT, saying that there is one parked on street of Edgware Rd.
The biggest issue will be people bumping into the car when they are parking and you may get the car(hopefully not) keyed or spat on by a jealous person, but on the whole you will be fine. As above dark colours, coupe and keeping the inside empty should reduce the risk.
In monetary term, it comes down to cost of increase in premium and excess vs cost of hire of garage but it's your P&J and you want to look after it.
Good Luck

Hi all,
I just came across this thread after doing a search as I, like the OP, am considering switching to an F355, live in London (SW) and am concerned about parking on the street.
Having just done a quick check, believe it or not, with my current insurer, elephant, the premium is lower if I park on the street rather than in a garage/car park/residents parking area etc!! There's not a lot in it, say £30, but I've triple checked and it's correct!
Also, extra info I found out: I can get secure underground parking within 10 mins walk from me for £135pcm. And having a tracker on the vehicle only lowers the premium by approx £40 per year
For reference, the premium for the F355 as a second car, 5k miles p.a., parked on street where I live, immobiliser, no tracker, total £850 excess, was quoted as: sub-£800 per year.....and I am single, male and 27! Admittedly with max no claims bonus and clean licence (at least at the moment). But still, my 996 911 costs me more than that....these truly are strange days, I remember paying £1200 TPFT per year for my first car, a 1.1 litre Citroen AX back in the dim and distant past of January 2000.....

There was a snowed in F355 spider parked on Old Brompton Road in January this year, wasn't you was it?!I had a cover made for it which detracts attention also, and keeps any rain out (good for the Spider)
