Hi

First post on this forum since taking delivery of the 355 Berlinetta 2 months ago

I'm taking it over to France in July and whilst i've always taken my 911 across by ferry, i'm thinking that I will take it across by Eurotunnel (no booze cruise / white-van-man drivers banging doors onto it)

I recall reading advice and comments about taking cars on Eurotunnel on here, but the pistonheads 'search' function is out of action at the moment,

Any tips appreciated - I seem to recall there was a comment on the width of track in the carriages, and choosing one to avoid scuffing wheels?

Thanks in advance

Martin

I'd had the GS on both.. no problems with either. The Euro tunnel guys are pretty experienced with getting these things in the right places. I do know some of the guys go in the truck bit for the extra width but I was fine in the normal section.

There are 2 possible issues in the car-section of the EuroTunnel:

1. Width: Diablo's won't fit without possible wheel damage. Anything close to that will be a tight fit.
2. Front ground clearance: As the car-section is 2 stories, you might be requested to drive up to the higher section. With most sportscars, this will wreck your front spoiler.

As pointed out, just book your tickets by ticking the "car higher than 1,85m", and you'll be put in the lorry-section, which is full width and single level. Most EuroTunnel staff will know about it, but some don't. That's why it's best to book the right ticket yourself.

No problems with my F430, so F355 will be fine too. Just book as normal, they get loads of ferrari's on there. They'll often direct you into the lorry lane, but its not necessary.
