That FXX on Top Gear sunday last, flipping impressive!

I read in the Daily Express that it was Schumachers own car. Now obviously, everything one might read in the Daily Express must be taken with a boulder of salt, so i thought i'd come to that font of all fully verified, fact-checked, totally trustworthy information that is PistonHeads. biggrin

So: Was it his car?

It certainly is his, hence why he was the stig while driving it I expect.

I doubt he is the full time stig but great headline grabber and PR for the new series, so a result for them.

Thanks guys. No, he's deffo not the usual Stig, he's carrying too much weight nowadays hehe. Helluva coup to get him on the show though, shame Jezza couldn't think of anything interesting to ask him, such as more about his FXX, and about his bike racing, etc.

Surprised to see the FXX do that bounce up and down mid corner, what was going on there, torque fighting grip/torque reaction or something?

Not sure if the time will stand on the lap board either 'cos i doubt that the car will qualify as a road car, but it was still bloody impressive. I mean, you could really see the speed in that lap, t'was something to see.

Given time to learn the car it would be quicker. he has driven that circuit so many more times. And I would think has driven more cars the MS too, so would have a greater exp of road going cars.

Did MS have much of an input in the design of the FXX or was that just the Enzo? If he did then he would surely know the car very well so it would give him an advantage over the stig but as said above the Stig must know the track so well, it'd be interesting to see the difference in times.

You are joking?? MS multiple world champion and some ex F1 drivers say hes one of the best ever! The Stig some racing driver that now works on Top Gear i can't see him being half the driver different leagues imo!

Something else for PH to confirm - is the FXX road legal or not?? If not, then it should be taken off the TG lap time board, Shirley?

No, it's not. Track use only. There aren't even indicator lights on it.

I guess you have a point.

Over to you, TG!

He can drive cars pretty well..He knows that track better than any other person. That is more important than being the best in the world a
at driving a completley different beast.

cant believe people are debating schumacher's speed with a couple of jobbing drivers!!!

also, if the road legal Caparo lap wasnt allowed to stand, no way the FXX lap should be on there

Its different though isn't it..I think 70% of the time in all the cars on that list Stig would be quicker.

why? the stig has no previous experience of the cars he laps (a few practice laps & then a timed lap) & neither would schumacher. i would find it very hard to side with any driver over schumacher!

The stig is quicker than the other F1 drivers that have appeared on the show isn't he?

I know Schui is/was a quick driver, but I agree that Stig would prob give him a run for his money...like I said, he's beaten other F1 drivers?!

Not really that interested in arguing, just think he would be better as he knows the track, and has greater exp of road going cars than MS. And as kindly pointed out he has beaten other F1 drivers.

He has beaten other F1 drivers? Do you mean that you are comparing his times to an F1 driver appearing at the Top Gear track for an afternoon and maybe going around the track 10 times and setting a time?
