Hi guys,

I'm considering what my next car purchase will be and like many people I've been attracted by the relatively reasonable pricing of the 360 at the moment.

I'm going to take a look at a couple of cars and was but what is the service requriement on these cars? Do they require annual service or is it mileage based? And what about the cam belt service?

By way of example, looking at a 2002 car with say 25K miles, what service history should I expect to see in the service booklet?

Cheers.

I think a 360 needs serviced every 7k or once a year, if memory serves. As for the cam belt, I'm not 100% sure again but I think it's every 3 years.

Sorry I couldn't give exact figures, but it's about that.

Just went and checked for you, the 360 needs serviced once a year or every 6k. The cam belts should be done every 18k. On the 355 if the cam belts were not done it could cause some serious problems, leading to expensive bills. I would imagine the 360 is the same, so make sure they have been done.

Hope that helps

Thanks for taking the trouble.

So a car correctly serviced should have at least an annual stamp - the few I've enquired about may be a little lacking then!!

Don't be put off by the odd gap, check to see if the car has actually done anything that year? In an ideal world they should be serviced every year and cam belts every three (essential), we have posted a buying guide on our website now, its in its first draft but it should help you regardless. Clutch is a key cost on 360's so you will need an sd2 readout. PM me if you need our website.type

+1 From time to time it may miss the odd service so it's not really the end of the world. Just make sure it hasn't been completely neglected i.e. serviced once in 6 years. I would be concerned at that.

Thanks, I'll take a look.

By way of example... 1 car (an F1), received a cam belt service approx 3.5 years ago at 18K miles. It's now done an additional 4k miles but has only had 1 additional service over the 3.5 years/4k miles. From what you say it's going to need a cam belt service immediately.

Yes, I would be getting the cam belts done as soon as possible. Just to let you know if your looking at F1 cars, it's worth noting that they upgraded the software in 2003 to make the changes faster/smoother. The pre 03 cars might be a bit slower and jerkier in comparison (haven't driven one so I don't know, just going by what I've been told previously)

Just been reading the buyers guide, very useful.

I've been put off the F1 just a little after reading clutch life is around 7K miles.

F1's are best, wears rates are how you use them, mixed A - B road driving with usual traffic and 18k miles is obtainable, however 100% driving around London for example and they will eat clutches in and around 7k. so don't be put off. 03's cars feed the clutch in a bit quicker hence reducing slip and wear, personally I would not worry about the year as the mileage, condition and history.

Cam belt services are cheap anyway (£400) I would be very concerned about this car, she obviously has not been serviced correctly / nor anywhere near her intervals, there are other issues that will need sorting out.
