Would it be total insanity to store one of these cars outside all year round?

Assuming a car cover was used to keep the worst of the elements off would they survive or turn into a pile of oxidised metal in a couple of months?

They wouldn't just stand they would be in semi regular use but they would most likely be outside for the majority of the year.

I can't commentt on the 348, but the 355 doesn't really like being left outside. The are prone to rust. I guess a car cover would help though.

This could be a step in the right direction with a de-humidifier.

I agree, its better to let the air circulate so the car can dry out rather hold damp in. Its always difficult to get your car dry to put a cover on it and you cannot put one on when the engine is hot, I would try to sort out some sort of garage / cover if you can.
You can always tell on an inspection if a car has lived a lot outside.

Buy a decent breathable car cover wink and rent storeage space for a few months in the depths of winter if your not using it, at somewhere like http://www.autostore.co.uk it wont cost a huge amount and they may give you the space to do any little jobs that need doing to it.

Don't bother with a cover, unless it's an outdoor Carcoon they are more trouble than they are worth.

I had a '65 Mustang which lived under a gore-tex car cover summer and winter for 6 years. It never got driven over the winter and as sold earlier this year without any rust on it at all.

Not sure if some delicate Italian will do as well but there you go.
