Changing to a GTR?
Discussion
It's pointless for me to answer really since I'm very far away from owning either but the looks and sound of the Gallardo are what I'd look for in a car, not how fast it is around a track in Germany. Seeing a Lambo on the street feels like an event alone, when I've seen a GTR it's nice to see but didn't feel special. I'd think you're mad for thinking about getting rid of an orange Lambo for a big ugly Nissan.

GTR ey? A bloody fast car that. I drove down to Lemans last month with 8 exotics, included Ferrari 599, Ford GT, TVR ect. And the GTRs performance was epic!
But all said and done its a Nissan and not exotic metal in the purist means of the tearm. But i would have one anyday along with my Italians.

It doesn't do it for me, it can be the fastest thing in the world, makes no odds to me, it's a big saloony coupe.
Lets be honest, when do you get a chance to use the performance on the road anyway these days, but you get to look at it and experience it every day, and a Lambo or Ferrari has charisma in bagfulls compared to the Nissan.

That stuff is whats going through my mind. Would it fit in a single garage? They look HUGE!justin220 said:

Very interesting thread. Sold my Gallardo today - was a very sad occasion to see it drive away.
Went for a test drive in a GT-R at Middlehurst last Monday. The performance is completely mind blowing, to be honest. Not exactly thrilled with the interior, but the drive made up for it. On the way there, ended up with a puncture, and had to get a "lift" to Lambo Manchester. Whilst waiting on two new rears (lucky new owner), had a good nosey at the LP560 Spyder.
So, I am extremely interested in others thoughts and views. The LP560 was astonishingly beautiful, but the drive in the Datsun is taking some getting over....!
Would definately wait until September and beyond for a GT-R if I go down that avenue, as it will then come with UK Satnav, and it will also be interesting to see how the values handle after that time also.
Cheers Bradders.

God that is huge! A technological marvel, but I wouldn't buy one over a Gallardo. For me anyway it's about the whole experience and how the car makes you feel. A GTR could just never do it for me.

i am in the fortunate position to have both, use the gtr everyday and the murci on fine days etc
its been said before and its true, there is a sense of occasion when you drive the lambo, put that aside and the gtr is a fantastic car that is as quick or quicker than the lambo 90% of the time
took it to the school fair on saturday to raise some money for kids trips etc, raffled a ride in each,(£1 a ticket) the lambo got 6 times more ticket sales than the gtr
read from that what you will, but the lambo draws attention from everyone and petrol heads, and the gtr from just petrol heads

bradders - Interested to see what you do. I think I'd need to have a decent drive in one and see how much I liked it, and whether it pushed my buttons as much as the Gallardo.
Any reason for selling your one?
Interesting question that one, and in the main touched on by Will just above.Any reason for selling your one?
I found the G a very rewarding ownership experience, loved the look of it, and the drive (if not the best - the Noble was surprisingly far more rewarding to drive), but unfortunately, the g/f did not enjoy the attention it so readily brought. In the 9 months I owned it, she rarely wanted to go anywhere in it - using all sorts of excuses, but it all boiled down to her not enjoying being stared at when we pulled up somewhere.
I would very much have liked to go for both a GT-R and a G, but my everyday runner needs to have 4 seats on occasion, and short of lopping the legs of visitors to work, that means the GT-R would not do that job for me. So, I am now left with getting a RRSport as a daily hack, and will spend the next few months looking at alternatives for the daily (when 2 seats will do) and weekend runner that will hopefully fit within her ladyship's boundaries. For some reason, she seems to have green lighted the GT-R - which I actually think is more outlandish to look at than the G ever was!
Ta, Bradders.
Thanks bradders, I know what you mean about the attention! Some days it gets annoying. Other thing is you ca't exactly nip to the shops in your slippers with the Gallardo!
Will, thats an impressive line up!

We tested the GTR a couple of months ago. Feels pretty ordinary until you're pushing on, at barely legal speeds. In contrast the Lambo feels special even when its parked up. IMHO.
You've only had it 5 minutes man!
Yeah I know, its really only something I was thinking about just now.. You've only had it 5 minutes man!

Either get a new g/f or give up going dogging!

The thought has crossed my mind several times!! She was also quite "sensitive" about me being spotted driving around in it! It appeared to fuel the insecurities somewhat!!
edited to say, I'm talking about the g/f - not dogging!
