Hi Guys

Looking to gauge peoples thoughts as to what wheels to upgrade to, and I have narrowed it down to these two pictured below

They are Dymag Racing Wheels which are made from Carbon Fiber

Thoughts welcome

I'd say dark grey. Darker than that PS! But not quite black.

White doesnt look right on silver

If they are left as carbon fibre weave they will look good. If you are thinking of painting them go with silver.
Black/Titanium colour wheels always look dirty and nobody I know think they look good, apart from kids, so if you are into impressing children then they are OK, but that might get you locked upnono

I am looking to add a Carbon Spoiler thought it would look unique with the wheels as well ???

I must admit I am in two minds ....I like the dark as I think they draw your attention to the car more but then again the silver look great and they show of the Carbon around the wheels...

I quite like the dark... gun metal would look lovely, esp if the carbon weave is visible smile

Wish I could...but I would still have the same dillema of which ones to use...

That said I could put ally on near side and gum metal on the off side...job down

Has anyone added Carbon wheels to there car ??

Koenigsegg is happy to be pioneering the carbon wheel technology from Dymag. This is a true achievement in performance car wheel technology and something the industry has been dreaming about for a long time. It does not only enhance the look, but drastically increases the performance of the car.

Warren Mosler said:
The MT 900S will be the first US production car with factory equipped carbon fibre wheels. The revolutionary 18 & 20 inch nine-spoke Dymag wheels sport a magnesium centre hub with carbon fibre rims. The front and rear carbon fibre rims weigh 14 and 17.5 lbs respectively, compared to the current used wheels which weigh 24 and 28.5 lbs respectively. This translates into a total reduction in rotating un-sprung weight of 42 pounds. The Dymag carbon/magnesium wheels have nearly half as much rotational inertia as forged aluminium wheels. And, of course, pursuant to our imperative for total performance, the large savings in un-sprung weight improves handling and ride qualities as well as our already extreme acceleration, braking and cornering.

Last weekend we went up to Infineon Sears Pt to qualify for the Super street Time Attack finale held at Buttonwillow the week after SEMA. We ran the cup car in the unlimited class – Shod with the Rennworx / Dymag Carbon wheels - We were able to post the fastest time of the day and set a new track record......

I am pleased to report that the Carbon Dymag wheels performed flawlessly and James reported an improvement in the feel and performance of the car. At one point James used the curbing to get around the track. What would have most likely bent a normal 3 piece wheel. The Dymag showed no signs of any damage or fatigue....What so ever.

Parr Porsche UK said:
The wheels are worth about 40 BHP on the 996 GT3 RS. The “power saving” was worth many hundreds of thousands of Pounds (Sterling) of engine development to extract the same amount of power reliably from the engine

Harry Handkammer - GTS Motorsport said:
It really was a privilege to use the new carbon wheels. The team was very pleased and proud to be the first race team to use carbon wheels. At the first Britcar race of the season the car was nearly one second per lap quicker than it’s times last year at Snetterton circuit. We achieved a class pole position and won the class in the race. We finished second overall beating many of the Porsches and the more powerful cars.

At the Spa Francorchamps Endurance race we improved even more, taking pole position and winning the race overall. The carbon wheels allowed us to use slightly softer springs and damper settings that made the car easier to drive across the kerbs for qualifying and allowed us to be much smoother in the race, this is very important in endurance racing. David Leslie said that the car was much easier to drive and to set up for the conditions, due to the increased feel through the steering, allowing him to drive much more relaxed at a quicker pace

ASCARI engineer Rob Jewell said:
The car both accelerated and braked better, as well as allowing us to soften the damping to increase traction, it enabled the car to take bumps and even potholes much smoother without deflecting the direction. The wheels also contributed to allowing the new Ascari A10 to achieve 0-100kph in 2.73 seconds.

The carbon weave on the rim will be lost next to the tyre, until you get close enough to see it. So your descision is based on the look from a distance, go with either silver or black, gunmetal just looks like dirty silver all the time.

I think you've decided really, the best way to show off the carbon rim is with silver hub and spokes. thumbup

I think flemke has a view on these (he looked at them for his McLaren F1) - apparently they are very dodgy if you kerb them.

Check with your insurer.

Sorry to hijack this thread.

Soovy, you and Flemke don't receive emails (I do), but if you know him, I would love a picture of his car, I've never seen one in blue, and as you can see I have a penchant for blue.

Sorry everyone else, normal service will resume shortly..............

One from EVO's website. I have repeatedly applied to be adopted by him, but sadly he's not having it.

I was going to give the same advice. Flemke didn't go with them because of the way they fail.(edited to add- that they are not prone to failure just the way they do) Might be worth posting in the "Flemke is this your F1" thread or what ever it's called as he monitors that. Otherwise he spends some in the "speed plod and the law" forum
