I was testing in the R300 at Silverstone yesterday and there was some serious Ferrari porn there. We shared a garage with a 250LM, a 288GTO Evoluzione (both of which were driven into the circuit on trade plates!) and further down the pitlane was a 250SWB! I assume they were testing for the Classic later this month. Sharing track space with a 250SWB (especially when he neglects to spot you in his mirrors and nearly wipes you out!) is something I will never forget.

I realise this post is useless without pictures but I was too busy dribbling to pick up a camera i'm afraid!

I'll see if I can dig out the video footage of me nearly getting swiped by the SWB in a bit.

O/T - Jonny, what happened to the 355 (no longer listed in your profile)? I thought you loved that car (remember reading your write-ups in the early stages of ownership)?!

still got the 355 - can't ever see myself selling it either! still love it as much today as the day i picked it up and still gives me the same feeling every time i start it up. it's been cheaper to run than the BMW in the last 12 months, too!

Brilliant stuff!! Yours and Cactussed's write-ups were both superb and inspiring. I am sure I will be the same in the not too distant future, the 355 will be my next car!

i could sit and write about my experiences with the 355 all day and i'm sure there are people (like me) who would appreciate reading about them in the manner intended. but there is also a good chunk of people who think it's just conceited and unnecessary to write about cars like that - despite my frank comments about my own personal affordability of it.

Definately, I think there are more of us than there are haters! biggrin

This is sad, they don't have to read it if they don't like it and until many of us make it a reality, it is wonderful aid to the dream. And for that sir, I salute you! beer

I agree. But it seems like a lose-lose scenario with these people. Those who can't afford the car think it's just showing off to talk about it and those who can *genuinely* afford one (as opposed to those who aren't scared of finance such as myself) just think it's pitiful to attempt it on a budget.

If the car blows up tomorrow and I can't drive it for 5 years while I save up for a new engine - i won't regret buying it. The last 12 months have been incredible - a real acheivement of a life-long dream.

That's their opinion but i'm sure there are many more people out there who understand your position, appreciate what you've done and why.

Good for you (hopefully that won't happen)!
