Does anyone know of a 512 BB for sale? And any thoughts on carbs or fuel injection. Also, what about a Koenig kit and upgrade? All opions appreciated.

Thanks, will look at both of these. Have seen a beautiful black car with a Koenig kit but would like to know what people think of Koenig. 460hp sounds fun but would anyone buy it when I need to sell?

I think the Koenig kit limits the market considerably.

The beauty of the 512BB is the 70s vibe. The Koenig stuff smacks of 80s and doesn't sit well with most potential customers.

Ditto. Very few blind people have both driving licenses and the funds to buy and run a 512.

Great cars. Buy the best, original car you can to preserve your "investment", but make sure you use it.

Best bit of advice you will get. As for driving there is little difference between carb and injection, carb cars are a little faster, and sound better. I am on my second Boxer, a carb BB512, imo one of the greatest looking Ferrari cars ever, they look far better in the flesh than in pics and a blast to drive, very raw feel on the road, flat 12 engine is a gem.
Koenig cars will be difficult to sell on, and the tuned engine will put strain on the transmission, the input shaft is not up to handling the power and can snap, a transmission rebuild is a serious wallet buster.
Originality is the key, as in unmodified, servicing is straightforward, regular use is best, also probably the best investment potential of any recent Ferrari.

Btw there is also one avaiable here, I do not know anything about this particular car, but Mike Wheeler is the guy there, I bought both of my Boxers through him, a top guy, great to deal with, lots of helpful advice, and knows the history of most UK cars.

I gather nobody is impressed then. I think that myself really but the car was just like new so I was tempted. Thanks for putting me straight.

If you were tempted why not look into it further. I quite like the koenig Boxers, and there is a market for them, they are not exactly plentiful, and cars in good condition are very very rare. As to value, a mint Koenig BB will be worth maybe the same as a mint standard car, possibly a little more. They are of their time, and beauty is certainly in the eye of the beholder with this one, mechanical condition is crucial especially the transmission. Have you any pics of the car in question?

The Verdi car is actually owned by Autofficina & I know the belt are due & will be completed on sale. The car was rebuilt by Elias at Autofficina so you can assure that everything will be on the button.

I have a 1977 Koenig 512bb Carburettor model and it sounds beautiful and will easily out handle any normal 512bb. The comments here are right in that it is not everyones cup of tea. However in over ten years of ownership Every year there is always someone who wants to buy my car but in my opinion if that is why you are buying a ferrari just thinking of when you want to sell. It will never work for you. ferraris have to be looked after with no thought of money... only the thought of feeling that flat twelve start up and taking her round the next bend. My car goes into second first thing because bernard Fosker put my gearbox together. The great thing with the Koenig is that it revs to over 8000 and the sound of the air rushing into the twelve bell mouths is intoxicating. I will never sell her.

If you don't mind me asking. What sort of cost is it for a gearbox re-build?

I have a 308 and going into second is no problem but it gets a little notchy into third, particularly when warm.

Not really sure how much a gearbox rebuild is..... any decent garage would give you an idea in advance i think. I know that replacing the brake master cylinder and filling the engine up with oil is about 1500 quid. That was last weeks bill.

changing over to Synthetic gearbox oil has been known to help smile (remebering to do the transfer oil at the same time smile )

Cheers. I'll give that a try and make a few enquiries.
