A few Gallardo questions
Discussion
Does anyone know the length of a Gallardo? I have managed to find out the width, but not the length.
Do they come with trackers as standard? I am getting good insurance quotes but am being told it must have a tracker. I assume they must come as standard, am I right?
Whats the ground clearance like if you get one without the lifting device, are they ok with fairly high speed bumps?
And finaly, I keep getting told to avoid 04 cars and go for 05 and on, are 04's as unreliable as I am being told? and are 05's and onward that much better?
Thanks in advance

4300mm long. Trackers not fitted as standard but not expensive to have fitted. Takes about half a day.
There have been some stories of early cars having issues. I 've had my June04 car for 2 years now. I use it daily to commute and when i can escape from the wife and kids for an hour at the weekend. Aside from 2 new lambda sensors, not had a single issue. If you go for an early car, ensure it has the latest (E) revision clutch.
eta - I've not got the lifting system and have never found a speed bump i can't get over.

most insurers won't insure it but there are still plenty that will.
I'm insured with admiral and they don't insist on a tracker.
re: speed humps. I don't agree at all. Round my way a lot of these can be very steep/sharp and I've had issues with my Scoob so a Gallardo with no lifting would defo have problems.

I live in a town where the council finds speed bumps fashionable, and havent had a problem with them yet (I take them at 45 degrees and quite slowly)
I think you have make a call to Graham at High Wycombe Lamborghini - he helped me with a few of these questions and dispelled a few myths;
- he said the lifting equipment is not necessary for 99% of bumps/ramps etc
- 04' cars are fine, but obviously build into the price that, if the car still has an original clutch like mine - then dont be shocked if it fails within 4K miles, but dont be surprised if its still fine in 20K miles..
p.s. I found elephant car insurance to the cheapest by far for Gallardo (and for the Porsche)
29yrs old, 10 yrs ncb, fully comp + 1 named driver, car parked on street at night, tracker,= £940 pa

Try and get the youngest model as your budget allows. I've not got lifting gear on my Spyder and it negotiates bumps and raises easily providing you take your time. Although I'm in a semi rural area I've been through several areas which have sleeping policemen and I've had no problems. The local E$$o garage is the worst as it bows and dips then rises as you pull in. Also be careful when reversing as the gearbox is situated at the rear!
I'm paying similar insurance (a grand) and I'm 28.

I am insured through Nowell and Richards (Group Armour or somthing??) I have been told that my insurance premium will remain the same, as long as I garage it and have a tracker. £520 per anum.
My budget allows for a few 05 cars, in the 60k kind of region, it would be so easy to spend more, but that would mean I would have to be a recluse! As I intend to put by cash each month for when I get a 10k bill!!
Anyway, anyone want to buy a nice Maserati?? http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/1145052.htm quicker I sell it, the quicker I get my Lambo!

without lifting gear, a gallardo will not clear all the brick ramps on my street or across my townit's an easy choice new : £2k for lifting gear or just get snookered/damaged from time to time
