Just come out of a 997 C2S and am thinking seriously of a GranSport to take it's place.

Firstly, am I mad? After searching forums it actually seems that the GranSport is not as unreliable and "italian" as is most peoples knee jerk reaction. Can these be used as daily drivers and left on the drive overnight or are they really to be wrapped up in the garage and only bought when the sun is shining and the roads are dry?

Secondly, depreciation. The gap between these and the 4200 seems to be large. If I buy into one at mid £30's am I going to end up losing large amounts of cash if I only put 7k on it over a year?

Many thanks

I just got out of a Gransport and lost peanuts in six months, plus all I bought was tyres. this was a 18 month year old car that I sold to a dealer!

The first owner however lost 41k in a YEAR and 9k miles!

Fantastic car, great noise, and good build quality I thought

Agreed with Birdcage.

Use mine everyday but it is garaged; and to be honest, I actually wouldn't feel confortable leaving outside given the interest it attracts!

The build quality is very good, if not quite at German levels just yet, but it does work exceptionally as a daily driver.

To be expected the running costs aren't cheap, but on the otherhand not expensive for what your buying into.

I would say the depreciation is nothing unusual, or to be unexpected for the brand and performance.

The general rule is to ensure you do plenty of research and buy a good one, otherwise it could cost you in the longer run. Look for one which has been well loved, and has had all services including the checks every two years.

I've just sold mine to it's new grinning owner. Mine lived on the drive for 2 years & I drove it every day come rain, snow or shine.. faultless. Buy a good one & buy with your eyes open & you'll love every minute of it. As Harey says, have a chat to the guys on maseratiforum.

I love mine. Bought it a year ago and running costs are ok if you stay away from the main dealers. I park it on the street and so far no problems. I use it as a main car and did a 100mile round trip every day for four months through the winter with no issues. Sounds great and fairly shifts. Feel free to PM if you have any questions.

Had mine 2 years, it's only really cost me a set of tyres and two services.

Most recent service (3 year) was 400 quid at the dealers.

The stock exhaust has to go though, heavy and restricted ...

had mine 4 months now and use it pretty much everyday, kept outside with no probs.
Starts on the button every time and is a great everyday car!

Can't recommend them enough, wish i had got one ages ago!
Just make sure you do your research thoroughly, no probs buying private if you get it checked (i took it down to a local indy who had a good look over it) and you can see if the owner has looked after it etc!
Most of the depreciation (if not all) has been done buy now on all but the very latest Gransports so they are a great buy.
go for it!

Thanks guys, very much looking forward to Monday week. I've owned a lot of nice cars over the last few years (997, 996, M3, various Lotuses) and without doubt I am more excited than I ever have been about this car arriving!

I can't seem to get a confirmation e-mail from maseratiforum once I've registered so I can post, any ideas?
