Ya-frickin-hoo! Finally........
Discussion
Finally picked up my car last week. Thanks to all for the various bit's of advice/insight over the last few (?) months.
Love it so far and have most of the rest of summer off so I'll be getting to know it very well over the coming months.
To say I'm a bit pleased is as big an understatement you could make.....

When I was fifteen years old(some time ago now)I had a saturday job at a Ferrari specialist, and when cleaning cars a highlight was always running a chamois from behind the front wheel to the tail of a Testarossa, what fabulous set of curves.
The 512 TR is even better, but both are spectacular to see on the road.
Congratulations, stunning car!

Was just wondering how you were getting on one month into ownership? How is it to live with?

Is that the Meridien Modena one? If so I think my Maserati GT-S is in the background! I picked it up just over a month ago so timing would be about right. The TR is an amazing car hope you have been enjoying it.
It's no the car Meridien had for sale - that was a 512M ( I think they still have it), but they serviced my TR and that's where this was taken when I collected it.I had a good look at you car while I was there - colour is fantastic.
Was a few other nice cars there as well. The nicest F40 I've seen and a few old V12's as well as a couple of Scud's.
Didn't think there could be too many Blu Mediterraneo GT-S around. They always have a good selection of cars to drool over and I have also found them to be good to deal with. F40 is definately in the fantasy garage, although I have to say been looking at the TR recently and they are very tempting!
1 Month (and a bit) update
Well after just over a month with the car, I have to say I'm liking it even more than when I collected it. No unpleasant surprises and it's lived up to what I was hoping for.
At 6'2" with a bit of a dodgy back I was worried about comfort, but on the few longer trips I've made in the car it's been great. I would have no problems jumping into it knowing I had a lot of miles ahead of me.
I did look at a few more modern cars but I'm happy this has the performance and reliability that I need, and it feels a bit more of special when I take it out than I think some of the moderns would have been.
I haven't had the time to really extend it yet (apart from a few quick bursts up to about 140) but it seems to go well. It is down on power on the big modern stuff at 428bhp, but it's (relatively) light so it seems to acquit itself pretty well against most traffic.
The weight is biased to the rear (60%), and you can feel it, but it hangs on well on the spirited drives I managed so far.
The one weak point I was told about on the TR’s before I got it is the brakes, and I have to say I agree with this. They’re not lacking in power, or prone to fade or anything specific, but they’re not the progressive confidence inspiring anchors you hope for on a fast motor. This is maybe partly because I’m still getting used to the car.
Other people reactions to it have been really positive, with some refusing to believe that it’s 15 years old. A visit to friend in London made me feel like the Piped Piper with every kid in the St appearing with offers to wash it for a discount on their usual rate....
One small problem in London has been its width. The Flat 12 makes it a pretty wide car at 1.97m. I’ve had to change garages (see the pic of parking at my old one), and parking in London can be a bit hard to find. It’s also too wide for some of the width restricted side streets close to home. It hasn’t been a major problem, but it stops you nipping down side streets to avoid traffic.
All in all, I have to say I'm really pleased with it, and there's there's been no time that I think I should have got something else. It's quick, useable, fun and even has a bit of luggage space.
I'm thinking I'll hang on to this one for a while - the girlfriend has even told me she'll be annoyed if I sell it any time soon.
I'm planning on a trip into France in the next month to really make proper use of it. :-)
